A Multi-layered Flower

Layered Cantaloupe Flower

It’s so quick to make multi-layered flowers like this one when you have punches to help you out.  I used a watercolor brush and Crisp Cantaloupe ink to color some watercolor paper, which I punched out with the Pansy punch.    I also used the new Dictionary background stamp to stamp Baked Brown Sugar ink on the Baked Brown Sugar card stock.  The splatters come from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  This is a note-card sized card — 3-1/2″ x 5″.

Last week was my last as a guest designer for the Paper Players.  I don’t really have to worry about withdrawal too much though, as I still plan on participating in many of their challenges as a participant.  You just won’t see my cards for that posted here on Sundays anymore.  You can go check out what the challenge for this week is here.

Enjoy your Sunday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Secret Garden Thanks to the Best

Flower Shop Thanks

Polka dots just make me happy!  So do flowers.  I hadn’t used my Secret Garden set in a while, so I pulled it out and paired it with this fun polka dot pattern from the I Am Me dsp pack.  After cutting out the flowers with the coordinating framelits, I used some Dazzling Details to add sparkle to the centers.  I also used some of the fun new Candy Dots around the leaves.

Enjoy your Saturday!  I need to spend some time designing swaps for convention this weekend.  Time is slipping away — it’s less than three weeks away!  Yikes!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mosaics — FabFri21

It’s another Fab Friday kind of day!  This week we have a fun sketch challenge for you:

I knew right away when I saw the sketch that I wanted to make another Polaroid/Instagram style frame on this card.  What threw me for a loop was the arrow.  Then I remembered that the Hello, Lovely set has an arrow image.  So then I knew what stamp set I wanted to use.  But what to put in the frame?  I decided to let some dsp be the star of the show, and I love the fun, bright colors on this pattern.

I hope you’ll join us in this challenge at Fab Friday!  Meanwhile you can check out what the rest of the design team made here.

You are Amazing

The Lovely Romance set has some pretty vintage-style images, and I love this sentiment stamp in the set, which coordinates with one of the Chalk Talk framelits.  I thought the Fancy Fan embossing folder goes so well with this set, so I used it along the bottom of this card.

A Curvy Dahlia Card — FMS92

It’s Wednesday, and the talented Jen Brum has a sketch for us at Freshly Made Sketches this week:

Now, I must say that this curve had me stumped for quite a while.  Then I decided to just print the sketch, cut along the curve, and trace it onto my dsp.  Pretty simple!  Once I figured that out, this card was pretty easy and quick to make.

A Sparkly Flower Stem

I love the Morning Meadow stamp set, which is a hostess set.  Not only does it have great focal images, but it also has two very useful sentiments (thank you, and happy birthday).  For this card, I used the focal image which is a stem of pretty flowers.  I put some Dazzling Details on the flowers to add a little sparkle.

Grateful There’s You

Here’s a color combination that I really love — Crumb Cake, Pistachio Pudding, Island Indigo, and Crisp Cantaloupe.

Grateful There's You

I copied this layout from a fabulous card made by the very talented Lynn Put.  Her card uses very different colors and a different theme, but I wanted to use the sketch.

I used markers to carefully color the stamp and it took me a while because it took me a couple of tries to get it right.  When I went to put my markers away I noticed that I hadn’t used Island Indigo after all — I’d accidentally used Midnight Muse.  Since I was out of time, I decided that it would blend in.  🙂

Enjoy your Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Morning Meadow Pansy

Morning Pansy

This year’s catalog has some really great hostess sets.  On this simple and quick card, I’ve used the Morning Meadow set.  The flower in it coordinates with the Pansy Punch.  Love that!  I also used a wheel, Viola’s Lace.  I used to be so frustrated with wheels because I could never get my images straight.  But now I remove the stamps from the wheels and mount them on the Clear-Mount Cling Foam (page 197 in the catalog), and then use them like regular stamps — perfect every time!

I used a color combination that I got from the Color Coach — Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie.  I think it’s a great summer color scheme.

Enjoy your Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!
