This was not a stamp set that I originally thought I had to have.  But after seeing so many cute cards made with this set, it became a “have to have” set.  It is a really fun set.  I love how it comes with so many pieces so you can mix and match the drinks — strawberry, orange/lime wedge, olive, umbrella, etc…

Spooky Creepy Crawly

Here’s a Halloween card for you today.  I love it when Stampin’ Up! offers kits that make my stamping life easier.  The Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit allows you to make some really easy and cute projects.

I also used the Border Banter stamp set to make the sentiment and the pattern at the bottom of the card.  I just cut the strips in half and pieced them together.

I chose the colors for this card from the Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge for this week.

Give the Elephant a Ticket

Freshly Made Sketches is celebrating their one year anniversary this week, and their weekly challenge is to make a card using any of their past sketches.  Since I just found this site a few weeks ago, I loved looking at all of the sketches I missed out on.  I ended up choosing sketch #25 for my card.

And here’s my card:

I don’t know what it is about the elephant image in the You’re Amazing stamp set, but I just love him!  I think it’s the cute hat he’s wearing.  Once again, I pulled out the ticket wheel.  I must say I’ve gotten more use out of this wheel than I have out of all my other wheels combined.  Love that thing!  I used a blender pen to color the elephant with my ink pads.  Enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  You’re Amazing, Take a Ticket
Ink:  Staz-on Black, Island Indigo, Cherry Cobbler, Calypso Coral, Basic Grey, Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight

Three Little Note Cards

Being a mom who is also a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, one might expect that I would make all sorts of cute little things for my kids.  Hmmm…..not so much.  However, once in a while, I do make little notes to tuck into their lunch boxes.  I was inspired to do that today when I saw the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World.

These colors are my girls’ favorite colors, so I immediately thought of them, and then I thought that I should make them little lunch box notes.  Now, I know that my green isn’t the same shade as the shoes, but sometimes you just have to use what you have.

Now, since I have two girls and one boy, I had to make a more “masculine” version for one.  No bows or buttons for him.  And since one daughter is in 2nd grade, I tried to keep the vocabulary level down a notch.

Here are close-up pictures of all three.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  I Am… (a special set given to 2012 Convention attendees only)
Ink:  Versamark

Embellishments:  White embossing powder, Brights Designer Buttons, Lucky Limeade Baker’s Twine, 3/16″ Brights Brads, Wild Wasabi 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon

It’s Good to try New Things

I tell my kids all the time, “It’s good to try new things.  How will you know if you like it if you don’t try it.”  So I decided to take my own advice and try the color challenge over at The Paper Players.

This is definitely not a combination that I have ever used before, so it was a good challenge for me.

I sprayed some Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz on the flowers.  It’s always hard to get the full effect of that in a picture though.

Enjoy your Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

I Still Love to Color

One of the main reasons why I loved the For the Birds set in the catalog when it first came out was because it has images that you can watercolor.  I have always loved to color and I still do.  There’s something that is so relaxing and calming about coloring.

I made this card using this week’s sketch over at the Retrosketches site.

I got the color combination straight from the Color Coach.  I find that I use that helpful tool quite a bit, as it provides suggested color combinations for each color.  Plus, I use it a lot to just see what different color combinations would look like together.

It Finally Feels Like Fall

Well, we finally got a break from the 100+ degrees temperatures and today it feels like a beautiful Fall day in the 80’s (hey, it IS Texas).  So I finally broke out a Halloween stamp that has been sitting in my stamp room for two months.

I heat embossed the witch image and then sponged some Rich Razzleberry ink on it for the background.  I also pulled out my color spritzer tool and splattered some black ink on the Basic Gray card stock.  Love that tool!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

A Fall Bloom

Ok, I have to say I’ve kinda gotten addicted to the weekly sketch challenges over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.   Now I haven’t been playing along but for a few weeks since I found it, but every week I like the sketch.  It seems to always fit with my style.  So here’s the sketch for this week:

I haven’t really used the Comfort Cafe designer series paper yet, so I broke into it and decided to use it today.  I went with the Fall colors.  I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I use Pool Party A LOT.  It has really become my favorite “neutral” color because it goes so well with everything and it’s so cheerful.  I don’t even want to think about it retiring in a few months!

So here’s my card:
