Valentine Smooch

Valentine Snuggles and SmoochesI have another card for you using the Snuggles & Smooches set.  When I showed this to my youngest child and asked what she thought about this card, her reply was “it’s kinda messy.”  I love how she’s always honest.

I used Gorgeous Grunge to add the splatters.  I also used some washi tape and sequins.  The color scheme is Real Red, Crisp Cantaloupe, Smoky Slate, and black.  The dsp is from the Stacked with Love dsp stack.

Crazy About Irresistibly Yours

It’s been too long since I’ve played along with a challenge at The Paper Players, so I decided I needed to remedy that situation.  I love the versatile sketch this week:

I also decided that I needed to use a stamp set that hasn’t seen ink yet, so I pulled the Crazy About You bundle out.  I love how this stamp set has coordinating framelits.

PPA Flower and Polka DotsI stamped the flower three times using Daffodil Delight ink and then fussy-cut the top two layers of the flower.  I stamped the leaves using Pear Pizzazz ink and punched out a Calypso Coral circle, which I then pierced using my paper piercer.

For the background dsp I used some of the Irresistibly Yours Specialty dsp and used a paintbrush and some Smoky Slate ink mixed with a little water to watercolor the dsp.  I have really enjoyed trying different techniques with this dsp.  I also added a little Wisteria Wonder scalloped edge along the bottom.

The sentiment is from a Sale-a-Bration set, Simply Wonderful.  I love the sweet sentiments in this set.

Pirate Valentine — FMS171

One of the best things about Wednesdays is that we have a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.  And this week you are in for a treat, as the truly talented Rita Wright has a fun sketch for us.

I decided to make another Valentine’s card and I really wanted some coloring therapy, so I used one of the adorable images from the Hey, Valentine set.  This little pirate is so sweet, and so fun to color.

Pirate ValentineI added a strip of dsp from the Stacked with Love dsp stack, and cut a strip of stars using one of the dies from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.  I also added a little star clip from the Essentials Hardware Clips.

Pirate Valentine Close UpI wasn’t comfortable with all of the white space (I know — It’s a fault of mine), so I added some Crushed Curry splatters, and called it a day.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We always love looking through the gallery and seeing what you make.  You should hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and see what the rest of the design team made.  They always inspire me.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Balloon Bash

Balloon Bashed Birthday I needed to make a birthday card for a friend, so I pulled a new set off my shelf, Balloon Bash.  I paired it with Dotty Angles and used a color scheme of So Saffron, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana and Smoky Slate.

Balloon Bashed Birthday Close UpI used a Stampin’ Write marker to draw the balloon strings, and used a dimensional to pop up the balloons.  This was a pretty quick and easy card.

I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch for my card.  I love how a good sketch can make the creative process so much easier.

Valentine Smooches — Monday Montage #36

Monday Montage Banner -- OctoberWe’re back with another Monday Montage Blog Hop for you.  There are ten of us participating, and we don’t want you to miss a single one.  All you need to do is click on the links at the bottom of each post to work your way through all ten posts.

Scribbled HeartI played around with a new photopolymer set this past week and had so much fun with it.  I’m going to share two of the cards in this post and I have another one to share later in the week.

Scribble Heart Close UpI pulled out some felt from my stash and cut out a couple of hearts with the Hearts Collection of framelits.  I love the texture that felt adds to a card.  I added some strips of dsp from the Stacked with Love paper pack and a little washi tape.  I used Blushing Bride, black and Real Red inks.

Smooches ValentineFor this second card, I took a piece of watercolor paper and embossed the scribbled image and heart image with white Stampin’ Emboss powder and Versamark ink.  I then took my aquapainter and applied some Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana inks over the paper.

Smooches Close UpOnce that was dry, I stamped some little hearts and added some embellishments.  I love how easy it is to make collage-style cards with this stamp set!

You’re ready to venture over to Breelin Renwick’s blog, where you should be prepared to be wowed.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can hop on over to the fabulous Wendy Weixler’s blog.  Either way, make sure you work your way through all ten blogs.

Teen Thanks

Thanks from KMy thirteen year-old daughter needed a thank you card for a friend.  I pulled my #hello set off the shelf and decided to use a favorite color scheme of hers — Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, and Bermuda Bay.

Thanks from K close upI used Gorgeous Grunge and Smoky Slate to make the background splatters.  I also added a little button and bow to make it a little “girly”.  The dsp is from the Sale-a-Bration catalog and is called Best Year Ever.

Sale-a-Bration House

Saleabration HouseHere’s a super simple card for you today.  When I saw this cute little house in the You Brighten My Day stamp set, which is available for free during Sale-a-Bration, I may have squealed with delight.  I love how it coordinates with one of the arrows in the What’s Up punch.

Saleabration House close upI stamped it three times — twice directly on the card base using Island Indigo and Hello Honey ink.  The third time I stamped on Strawberry Slush card stock with Versamark ink and embossed with white Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I punched out the Strawberry Slush house and popped it up with a dimensional.

I added a little strip of dsp from the Back to Black dsp collection and stamped the sentiment from Simply Wonderful, another Sale-a-Bration set.

This was really quick and simple, but I like how it turned out.

Enjoy your Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!

One Cute Fox — FMS170

We’re back again with another great sketch challenge for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  And this week, the amazing Jen Mitchell is our hostess.  Look at what she has for us:

This is such a great sketch!  I pulled out a new Valentine’s set — Hey, Valentine — and a new paper pad, Stacked with Love.  I think all of the images in this set are so cute, and I love the patterns and colors in the paper stack.

Foxy ValentineI colored the cute fox with Blendabilities, and I used the Hearts Border punch, which is so fun.

Foxy Valentine Close UpIt’s good to have another Valentine’s card in the stash.  Maybe I won’t have to scramble so much to get mine out in the mail this year.  I’m an optimist!

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card with the sketch this week.  We always love to see how you interpret the sketch.  You can check out what the rest of the design team created for a little inspiration over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Sympathy Card Lesson

My thirteen-year-old daughter and I were both saddened to read in the church bulletin that one of her favorite former teachers at school had recently lost her father.  I thought it was time for my daughter to learn how to write a sympathy card.  I think that sympathy cards are often the hardest ones to write, especially if one didn’t personally know the deceased.  We talked about what kinds of things are usually written in these cards and how to personalize them.  I was so proud of her for wanting to learn this.

sympathy lessonI pulled a favorite set, Choose Happiness, which I haven’t used in a while off the shelf.  The sentiment is from a hostess set, Bloom with Hope.

sympathy lesson close upI used some of the Naturals White card stock, and used a color scheme of Mossy Meadow, Basic Black and Pool Party.

Car Pool Gifts

At the school which my girls attend, the same teachers have car pool duty each morning.  There are three teachers who are there rain or shine with smiles on their pretty faces every morning.  It seems like it has been especially cold this month, and I always feel bad as I drive through in my nice, warm and cozy car and wave at them.

I decided they could use a little “thank you” and a little something to warm them up.  Since everyone has such different preferences as to coffee or tea, I didn’t want to do that.  Can you guess what’s in the bags?

hand warmer gifts

Hand warmers are in the bags.

Grabber 7+ Hour Hand Warmers - 40 Pair Box

I stuck a couple of packages in each bag and used some of the pretty new Sale-a-Bration dsp, Irresistibly Yours, and ribbon.  The sentiment comes from a Sale-a-Bration set, Simply Wonderful.
