Hooray for Embossing Paste

I have a card for you today using the A Happy Hooray stamp set and Gorgeous Grunge.  I recently got some embossing paste.  I’ve used texture paste a few times with stencils, and while I love that look, sometimes I want something that dries a bit smoother and whiter.

Happy Embossed HooraySince I wanted to play with the embossing paste, and I wanted to use the chevron punch, I decided to use both.  I made my own little stencil with the punch using a scrap of card stock.  I used some washi tape to temporarily adhere it to the card base and then applied the embossing paste over the stencil, smoothing it out with a popsicle stick.  Here’s a pic of the stencil after I used it.  I should have photographed it while I was actually making the card, but I never think about those things while I’m in the creative mode.  This will at least give you an idea of how I did it I hope.

Happy Embossed Hello StencilI stamped the two feathers and sentiment with Crisp Cantaloupe, Strawberry Slush, and Island Indigo inks.  I added some splatter and some messy lines with the Gorgeous Grunge set.

Feathered Thanks — Monday Montage #24

Monday Montage Banner -- OctoberWell, Convention is over.  It was fabulous and I already miss my stamping friends and am looking forward to next year’s event.  While I was there, I was able to hook up with the Monday Montage team members who were able to go (unfortunately that wasn’t all of us), and of course we had to swap cards! I’ll be sharing mine tonight, and I’ll bet some of the others will be doing the same.  So make sure you hop on to all ten of the blogs by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of each post.

Hooray for the Montage GirlsI used the A Happy Hooray stamp set and the Hello Darling stamp set on this one.  The feathers and sentiment come from the first, and the striped circles from the latter.

Hooray for the Montage Girls Close UpThe feathers were embossed with Crushed Curry embossing powder.  I used a color scheme of Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party, Crushed Curry, and Strawberry Slush.

You’re ready to hop on over to the super talented Breelin Renwick’s blog.  Just click on the Next button below.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can hop on over to Wendy Weixler’s amazing blog.

Hooray for Feathers

I made a little time to play with a new stamp set called A Happy Hooray yesterday.  It has some cute, shaped sentiments and it has a great feather image.  I thought these feathers would look so pretty embossed in gold, so that is the first thing I did.

Hooray for Feathers

I embossed the background with clear embossing powder and the Handcarved background stamp.  I know I’ve said this before, but I LOVE clear embossing on Very Vanilla card stock.

Hooray for Feathers Close UpI took advantage of the Buy 3, Get 1 Free dsp offer.  The dsp on this card is from the Back to Black package.

Enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!
