Autumnal Thanks — FMS460

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the lovely Judy Rozema. Take a look at this fun sketch:

I needed to make a couple of thank you cards and we had been enjoying such lovely Fall weather (now we’re back in the 70s), so I decided to make a Fall-themed card.

I started with the dsp — Gilded Autumn specialty dsp. I cut out a banner shape and punched out some of the leaves and acorns from another sheet of the dsp.

I cut out a strip of scallops from a copper foil sheet using a die from the Peony Dies and placed that under the top of the banner.

The sentiment is from the coordinating stamp set, Beautiful Autumn, and was embossed with some copper embossing powder.

I couldn’t decided whether to use a Mint Macaron card base or a Crumb Cake base, so I used both. Here’s the other card:

This card used the same supplies, except I traded Early Espresso card stock and embossing powder for the copper.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Colorblock Autumn — FMS458

We have another new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches. And this week our hostess is our crazy talented friend from Colorado, Kim Singdahlsen. Take a look at this fun layered card:

When I first saw this sketch I immediately thought of paint chips. Maybe that’s because we are preparing to have our house painted and I’ve been looking at paint chips a lot lately. I pulled out some favorite Fall colors of inks and sponged some of those colors on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.

I used a color scheme of Merry Merlot, Cajun Craze, Terracotta Tile, Pumpkin Pie, and Crushed Curry and masked off a 3/4″ block before applying each color. Stampin’ Up’s grid paper really made this easy.

The leaves and acorn are from the Gilded Autumn dsp and the Beautiful Autumn stamp set and coordinating dies. The sentiment was embossed with some old Early Espresso embossing powder. In my excitement of knowing exactly what I wanted to make with this sketch as soon as I saw it, I didn’t look at the sketch closely enough. I didn’t notice that the sentiment is supposed to go below the focal panel until I was tying up this post. Oops!

The focal panel was placed on a card base which was embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Life is Better with Autumn — FMS454

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our hostess is our creative and talented friend, Jacquie Southas.  Take a look at this fun sketch:

This card started out with the sentiment.  I wanted to make a card for my college daughter and thought this stamp would be perfect.  Since today is the first day of Fall, I decided to go with that theme as well.

I started by masking off a rectangle with washi tape and then blended some inks to create the background.  I then stamped the sentiment on a piece of Very Vanilla and cut it out with a die from the Tasteful Labels Dies.  Some leaves and the acorn were punched out of a piece of dsp from the Gilded Autumn dsp collection with the coordinating punches.  Some Gilded Gems were added as embellishments.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Grateful Heart — FMS452

It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week it is my turn to be the hostess, which means it is my turn to provide the sketch.  Here’s what I came up with:

When I made the sketch, I thought it would be perfect to showcase some pretty Fall leaves or some pretty flowers, or whatever focal images you’d like to feature.  I went with the leaves, and inked up those from Loyal Leaves for the first time.

We had a big road trip to Michigan last week to move my daughter into her college apartment.  It is such a long drive (1,111 miles away)!  My parents came down to stay with our youngest who is in high school while my husband and I made the trip.  I wanted to make a card for them to thank them for coming down here from Kansas.

I love the detail on these pretty leaves!  I cut them out with my paper snips and placed then on the Mint Macaron card base.  The sentiment is from the Beautiful Autumn stamp set and was cut out with a die from the Detailed Bands dies collection.

I sponged a little bit of Mint Macaron ink on the sentiment piece before stamping the sentiment with Early Espresso ink.

I hope you’ll play along with the challenge this week!  I’d love to see what you create with the sketch.  Looking through the gallery will be so much fun this week!  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Life is Better in Autumn — FMS451

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  And this week, our sketch comes all the way from Australia courtesy of our favorite Artisan designer, Narelle Farrugia.  Take a look at what she has given us:

Now that it’s September, I feel like Fall should be in the air.  But alas, I live in Texas, so it will be awhile.  Sigh…  However, I can embrace all of Fall’s glory in my craft room and make Fall cards.  I grabbed the new Gilded Autumn suite and went to work.

I started this card with the pack of designer series paper.  The card base with the brown splatters — it’s a sheet of dsp.  The little punched leaves and acorns — they’re from a sheet of dsp.  The two pretty printed rectangles — yep, more dsp.

The sentiment is from the coordinating stamp set, Beautiful Autumn, and was embossed on a piece of Early Espresso card stock, which I cut out with a label from the Ornate Frames Dies.

I added a little ribbon and linen thread and the pretty punched shapes (There are coordinating punches for this suite.  The tiny leaf was cut by hand as it doesn’t have a punch).

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!
