My kids start Spring Break this week.  It seems a little early, but it has definitely felt like Spring here for a while as the temperatures have been unusually warm.  I was making some thank you notes for my daughter recently and was inspired by the Spring-like weather so I pulled out my Butterflies Thinlits dies and Bold Butterfly Framelits dies.  My daughter is a lover of yellow and orange — she likes happy colors, so I tried to use those as my focal colors.

irresistibly-spongedI also pulled out some of the Irresistibly Yours dsp.  I used sponge daubers and my ink pads to add some color to this pretty dsp, which is clear embossed.  By adding some inks to the paper the design is more clearly revealed.  I used some Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, Peekaboo Peach, Tangerine Tango, and Daffodil Delight inks to roughly color the images.

I die-cut a solid butterfly from some Vellum card stock and placed a Daffodil Delight butterfly on top.

irresistibly-sponged-close-upI love how this card has a light and airy look, but still evokes a happy feeling that is so like my daughter.

Dijon Delights — Monday Montage #69

Monday Montage Banner -- October

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of ten stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

I still have another sneak peek from the display boards at last month’s On Stage event to share with you today.  One of the new sets that will be available starting June 1st is Love & Affection.  It is a pretty floral set with even prettier sentiments.

Dijon Love & AffectionOne of the colors that I was asked to focus on was Delightful Dijon.  So for this card, I ran a piece of Delightful Dijon through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling embossing folder.  I then cut it into two piece and inserted a piece of white card stock, on which I stamped some of the floral images from Love & Affection with Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron inks.

Dijon Love & Affection Close UpThe sentiment was embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I added a little bit of black baker’s twine and called it a day.  This would be an easy card to send through the mail.

Dijon ButterflyOn this last card, I watercolored some Delightful Dijon ink onto a piece of Shimmery White card stock with a paint brush.  The butterfly was cut from Vellum Cardstock using one of the Butterflies Thinlits dies.

Aren’t these sentiments so sweet!  I love them!

I Need Something Bright and Cheery

I had a little time to spend in my craft room yesterday.  We have had so much rain the past couple of months (almost daily it seems), that I decided to make something bright and cheery.

It’s hard to believe that up until just a couple of months ago, we had been in a long-running drought.  We had been under severe water restrictions, where we could use landscape watering only once every other week.  The lake from which our local water supply is drawn was 11 feet under the level at which it needed to be just two months ago.  Now it is over 9 feet above full level and rising — lots of flooding.  It has risen 20 feet in just two months!  Crazy!  I wish we could send this rain out West to California, or save it for July and August, when we’ll probably need it again.

Cherry on Top ButterflyI cut some little squares of the Cherry on Top dsp.  This dsp just makes my heart so happy!  I love the colors and fun patterns.  I cut a butterfly out of some Watermelon Wonder card stock using a Butterflies Thinlits die, and added some baker’s twine and a cute In-Color Blossoms Accent embellishment — love these too!

The black and white dsp on the bottom is from the Stacked with Love dsp pack, and will only be available for another week.  The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts.   I also added a little strip of Pool Party ribbon and I cut a strip of the new Cucumber Crush 1″ Dotted Lace Trim.

Cherry on Top Butterfly Close UpEnjoy your Monday, and make time to honor those who sacrificed all for their country (it’s Memorial Day in the U.S.).   Thanks for stopping by!

Feathers and Butterflies

Well, Spring Break just flew by.  Too bad we didn’t have Spring weather to go with it, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.  I did make a Spring-like card last week, so I’ll share that.

Butterfly and FeathersI die cut this beautiful butterfly out of vellum card stock with one of the Butterflies Thinlits dies.  I just love the detail on this die.  I use a layer of wax paper and a dryer sheet when cutting it out, and it come out cleanly and easily.

The layer behind the butterfly is a piece of the Irresistibly Yours dsp, which I sponged with a little bit of Pink Pirouette ink behind the butterfly.  I also sprayed some Crisp Cantaloupe ink with my retired spritzer tool.

Butterfly and Feathers Close UpI added a couple of feathers from the Four Feathers stamp set and cut them out with the Feathers Framelits dies.  They are stamped with Crisp Cantaloupe and Soft Sky ink.

This was definitely an “add a little bit of this and a little bit of that” kind of card.  Sometimes it’s fun to just mix and match away to one’s heart’s content.
