Thankful Cheer — FMS208

It’s that time again — another new sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.  And this week my sweet Floridian friend, Cindy Hall, is our hostess.  Look at what fun she has for us:

I took a few liberties with this sketch since I didn’t even use one rectangle for the focal images.  But I tried to stay true to the rest of the sketch.  Even though it’s 95 sweltering degrees here in Texas, I pulled out some Fall papers and stamps.

Thankful CheerI started with a Soft Suede card base and misted a mixture of Old Olive ink and rubbing alcohol onto a sheet of Into the Woods dsp.  I added a strip of Tangelo Twist card stock and some Linen Thread and a Classy Designer Button.

For the sentiment panel, I selectively stamped the top and bottom branches framing the Expressions Natural Element “thanks” from two different stamps from the Thankful Forest Friends set.  I paper pierced the panel after cutting it out with a Lots of Labels framelit.

The leaf was cut out of Gold Glimmer Paper using a Leaflets framelit die, and the acorn was stamped with the Cheer All Year stamp set.  I set the leaf and acorn on some looped Gold Metallic Thread.

Lots of products and lots of fun.

Thankful Cheer Close UpWe hope you’ll join us and make your own creation using the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  The design team has some great inspiration for you  — you can see we all did different things with this sketch.

Hello Autumn Acorns — FMS206

Here we are at Wednesday again, and that means it’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week, the incredibly talented Linda Callahan has a creative sketch for us:

I have to admit that this one threw me for a loop for a little while, but then I decided to just pick an image and use it three times in a collage style.  Since I’m still (im)patiently waiting on Fall to arrive here, I decided to use the cute acorn from Cheer All Year.  I really do love this set!  There are lots of cute images, and it is so easy to work with them.

Fall AcornsI started with a piece of dsp from the Typeset Specialty dsp.  I took a watercolor brush and watercolored on the dsp using some Bermuda Bay ink.  When that dried, I splattered on some undiluted Bermuda Bay ink with my paintbrush.

I stamped the acorns twice.  Once with Early Espresso ink on Early Espresso card stock, and once with Cajun Craze ink, using the rock-and-roll technique with Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla card stock.

Fall Acorns Close UpWe hope you’ll join us and make your own card with the sketch.  We love seeing how you interpret it and browsing the gallery.  You can hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see all of the fabulous things the design team did with it for some inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Autumn Box Cheer — Monday Montage #50

Monday Montage Banner -- OctoberWelcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We have ten  stampers who love to share what we create, and every other Monday we get together for a blog hop.  All you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

I have some sneak peeks for you tonight.  One of the items I was most excited to see in the new Holiday Catalog is a Square Pillow Box Thinlits Die.  It comes with all sorts of cute embellishment dies and even comes with some cute window dies.

I decided to make another Fall-themed project because I LOVE Fall.  So I decorated it with some Fall-themed products from the Holiday Catalog.

Autumn BoxI started by cutting some Tip top Taupe card stock with the Square Pillow Box die and then embossing it with the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I then sponged on a little White Craft ink to highlight the trees.  I thought they reminded me of some of the beautiful Birch trees we saw while in Alaska last summer.

I added a square of window sheet behind the window, which I cut out with one of the dies in the pillow box framelits set.

Autumn Box Close UpThe feathers, acorn and sentiment were stamped using a super cute new set in the Holiday Catalog called Cheer All Year.  I love every image and sentiment in this set.  I used Delightful Dijon, Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso ink for my color combination.

Next time I go to the store I’ll need to pick up some Fall themed M&Ms and fill the box with them.  It will make a cute surprise for a teacher or one of my kids.

You’re ready to hop on over to Breelin Renwick’s blog.  She is amazing and you will love what she has to share.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can hop over to Wendy Weixler’s blog for a dose of stamping inspiration.
