Happy Watercolored Birthday — FMS137

It’s Wednesday again already!  And that means we have another sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches, with the incredibly talented Jen Mitchell as our hostess.  Look at what she has for us this week:

I decided to make a birthday card, and I’ve been wanting to use a faux watercoloring technique again that I tried a few weeks ago (you can see that post here), so I combined the two.

Happy Watercolored BirthdayI started by embossing the sentiment from Countless Sayings 2 (one of the photopolymer sets) with clear embossing powder on Very Vanilla card stock.  I used a sponge dauber and dragged some Bermuda Bay ink across the bottom, some Coastal Cabana ink on the middle, and some Pool Party ink on the top, blending a little each time.  With a small wet paintbrush, I lightly touched the card stock, depositing little drops of water on it.  Easy peasy!

Happy Watercolored Birthday close upWe’d love to see what you do with the sketch!  Head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site for some inspiration from the design team, and then post your own creation in the gallery.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

You’re So Sweet, Sweet Sorbet! — FMS128

Happy Wednesday!  Are you ready for another challenge over at the Freshly Made Sketches site?  Well, the super talented Rita Wright has a lovely sketch for us this week.  It is such a versatile one.

I wanted to use some more of this beautiful Sweet Sorbet dsp before Sale-a-Bration ends.  Yes, it’s only available for just two more short weeks.  This is the one sheet that I’ve been hoarding.  I think the pretty floral pattern is just too pretty to cut.  🙂  Do you ever think that way too?

Your'e So Sweet Sorbet

When I saw the bow in the sketch, I knew right away I wanted to use this fabulous chevron ribbon.  I love this stuff!

I embossed the sentiment with black embossing powder and then colored it in with a blender pen and Crisp Cantaloupe ink.

We hope you’ll play along and post your creation to the Freshly Made Sketches gallery.  We love to see what you make!

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  Countless Sayings 2 (photopolymer)

Gold Dots Birthday

Happy Golden BirthdayHere’s a birthday card in which I’ve used a variety of different products.  I’ll leave a complete list at the bottom of this post.

I started by embossing the “Happy” on vellum card stock with Melon Mambo embossing powder.  I then colored in the outlined image with a blender pen and Melon Mambo ink, and cut it out with my paper snips.

I stamped the flower with Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White card stock and punched it out with my Pansy punch.  I then punched out another flower shape with vellum card stock and placed it on top of the stamped flower to mute the pink a little bit and give it a softer touch.

I also added some fun gold touches with washi tape and sequins.  I love the look of gold accents with white.

Enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Here’s a quick and easy card for you today.  I used watercolor paper for this card, and used an aquapainter to swipe some Strawberry Slush ink across the card.  The stamp set is a new photopolymer set called “Countless Sayings 2.”  I added some of the fun Retro Fresh This and That Designer Washi Tape for a fun accent.
