New Home Good Wishes — FMS550

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our very talented stamping friend from Massachusetts, Jen Mitchell. She has a fun square sketch for us. Take a look:

One of these days I will get back to stamping and coloring and making cards like I used to make. But for now, I am happy to let pretty designer series paper do the work for me.

It had been a long time since I had made a square card. I love this sheet of dsp in the Sale-a-Bration offering, Rings of Love, and I thought the cute houses would be perfect for the boxes in the sketch. The hardest part of making this card was figuring out what size to make each of the boxes in the sketch. I didn’t get it exactly right, but oh, well.

The sentiment is from the Charming Sentiments stamp set. I thought it would work for a “welcome to the neighborhood” card.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch. We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Wonderful World of Flowers — FMS548

We’re back with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is provided courtesy of Jacquie Southas. Not only does she make gorgeous cards, but she makes fabulous sketches as well. Take a look:

School starts here today. My youngest is a Senior in high school this year, so this is the last year of having any chicks in the nest. In the craziness of getting last minute preparations done, I needed to make a quick card. So, as I’ve mentioned before, I like to turn to my collection of dsp to make things easier.

I selected one of the sheets from the Sale-a-Bration collection called Wonderful World. It has some beautiful flowers, and I chose one and cut it out with my paper snips. A strip from another sheet of this dsp collecion was used on the right side of the card.

The lattice background was cut using a die from the Organic Beauty die collection, and was adhered to the card base. The sentiment is from the Lovely & Lasting stamp set and was cut using the coordinating punch.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Rings of Love Sympathy — FMS547

We have another new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches, and our hostess this week is the multi-talented Judy Rozema, who is not only a card maker extraordinaire but is also involved in producing a musical in her community. Even with all of this on her full plate, she has made a fun sketch for us this week. Take a look:

I needed to make a quick sympathy card, and an easy way to make a quick card is to let dsp be the star of a card. There’s a pretty sheet of bird images in the Rings of Love dsp collection, which is a Sale-a-Bration offering. I thought it would be perfect for a sympathy card, so that is where I started.

I stamped the sentiment and pretty border frame from the Lovely & Lasting stamp set. There is a coordinating punch for this stamp set. I added a baker’s twine bow and called it a day.

Splendid Thoughts — FMS545

For those who haven’t melted in this crazy heat yet, we have a new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches. In North Texas, we are doing our best to see how many days we can break the 100 degrees mark. So far, we have had 22 days, and it isn’t even August yet. The record was set in 2011, when we had a whopping 71 days over 100 degrees. Please, Lord, may we not come close to breaking that record. So far, we are only one day behind that year at this point in the summer.

Our hostess this week, Narelle Farrugia, is certainly not experiencing the same weather problems since she is currently enjoying Winter as she lives in Australia. She has a fun sketch for us. Take a look:

I thought the new Splendid Thoughts bundle would work well with this sketch as there are some long, slender images in the set that would work well with this orientation,

I stamped the images three times and cut them out with the coordinating dies. The little bees were also stamped and cut using the same bundle.

I cut out some white rectangles using the Deckled Rectangles Dies, and placed the images and die-cut leaves on them. The rectangles were placed on a Pool Party Card from the current Sale-a-Bration offering, which I believe is already sold out.

The sentiment is from the Charming Sentiments bundle. I added some Opal Rounds and baker’s twine as embellishments.

Hippo Love –FMS544

There’s another new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site today. Our hostess this week is our favorite New Zealand stamper and card maker extraordinaire, Karren Johnson. Take a look at her fun sketch:

One of the fun free offerings in the new Sale-a-Bration catalog is the Hippest Hippos stamp set. There is also a coordinating Hippo Dies set, which is another Sale-a-Bration offering. I thought the size of these cute hippos would work perfectly with the sketch, so I started my card by coloring one of the cute hippos.

I added a strip of dsp, which came from the Wonderful World dsp collection, which is another Sale-a-Bration offering. And I cut out a frame from the Fabulous Frames Dies collection.

This card came together quickly with the use of all of the dies and the great sketch.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Rainbow Birthday Wishes — FMS522

We’re back with another new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes from Colorado, courtesy of the very talented Kim Singdahlsen. Take a look at her fun sketch:

It’s about to be birthday week in our house with two of our children celebrating their birthdays next week. The first one up is my college daughter who has a Valentine’s birthday. She loves bright colors, especially yellow, so I wanted to make her a card that has happy colors. And since she was born on Valentine’s Day I also wanted to include some hearts on her card. And since I hadn’t used the Rainbow of Happiness suite and I thought it would work perfectly, it was an easy decision on what to use for her card.

I started with a sheet of the Sunshine and Rainbows dsp that has some tiny hearts. I love this paper collection, which is a free Sale-a-Bration offering. I then cut out the rainbow four times with the Brilliant Rainbows dies using different colors of cardstock. I stamped the little hearts from the coordinating Rainbow of Happiness stamp set onto a strip of Melon Mambo card stock. The sentiment is from the Special Moments stamp set, which is another Sale-a-Bration offering.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Daffodils & Butterflies — FMS521

It’s already time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our friend from upstate New York, Linda Callahan. Take a look at her fun sketch:

This sketch had me stumped for quite a while. But then I decided that I could use a stamped image for one of the strips in the sketch and not be such a stickler about following it exactly.

For the vertical strip, I decided to use a new stamp set, Daffodil Daydream. I stamped the daffodils and butterflies and colored them with my alcohol markers before cutting them out. I then adhered them to a piece of patterned vellum from the Vellum Layering Designs collection.

I stamped the sentiment from the Sale-a-Bration set, Special Moments, with Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch. We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has made for your inspiration.

Driving by to Say Happy Birthday — FMS519

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is none other than our favorite captain, Jennifer Timko. Take a look at this fun sketch:

My birthday card stash has gotten really low and I’ve been wanting to play with the new Sale-a-Bration stamp set, Driving By. So I stamped one of the images on a piece of watercolor paper and used my aquapainter and ink pads to color this fun little sports car.

I added some clouds that I cut out using some dies from the Brilliant Rainbow Dies and added some Wink of Stella for some glittery fun.

The sentiment is from another Sale-a-Bration stamp set called Special Moments, which has a lot of fabulous sentiments.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.
