Sending Birthday Wishes — FMS574

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our favorite mountain hiking Canadian, Jen Brum. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I recently got the new Saying Thanks card kit. I love the colorful card bases in them. I thought one of the bases would be perfect for a birthday card, so that was my starting point for this sketch.

I stamped the Birthday Wishes with some Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder on a strip of black card stock. The Sending part of the sentiment was die-cut using a die from the coordinating dies.

The top black strip above the sentiment was die-cut using a die from the Blossoming Happiness set. A few sequins were added as embellishments.

This was a quick and easy card. What took me the longest was trying to remember where I put the adhesive sheets, which make it so much easier to adhere skinny die-cut sentiments. I knew I had some somewhere, but I hadn’t used them in so long (because I can never remember where they are). That’s a sure sign I have too much stuff in my stamp room!

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Sending Birthday Wishes — FMS534

May has arrived and Summer is right around the corner. We have just a little over two weeks of school left here and then vacation will be upon us. I have to say, I am so ready! Another thing that has arrived is a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. Our die-cut aficionado, Cecile Ribon, has a sketch that is perfect for a delicate die or a layered stamping technique. Take a look:

One of the first things I added to my wish list for the new annual catalog was the Sending Smiles Bundle. I love the sentiments in the set, and the flowers are just so happy. I was determined to make this set work with the sketch.

I started by applying a watercolor wash of Pool Party ink onto a piece of watercolor paper. Once that dried, I added some splatters and some pretty Glossy Dots.

The flower was stamped with two of the new In Colors, Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party, and cut out with the coordinating dies. The die-cut sentiment and the stamped sentiment are both included in the bundle as well.

I added the spiral die-cut from the Blossoming Happiness dies at the top and bit of In Color Baker’s Twine as well.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Sending Smiles to Mom — FMS532

We have a new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our favorite Coloradan, Kim Singdahlsen. Take a look at this fun sketch:

I decided to take the opportunity to make a Mother’s Day card with this one. And since I just received a couple of new sets from the upcoming catalog, which will be released in just two short weeks, I decided to use one of them.

Spring is in the air in North Texas and the Sending Smiles bundle has some gorgeous floral images that are perfect to celebrate it. I stamped the flowers and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I used a couple of the new In Colors on the flowers — Orchid Oasis (which is also the card base color) and Sweet Sorbert ( which is the pretty red).

The floral arrangement was placed on a piece of card stock cut out with a Scalloped Contours Die and placed on another piece of white card stock cut with the Stitched Greenery Die. A sprinkling of Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels and a sentiment from an old set finished it off.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has made for your inspiration!
