A Fond Farewell to Cool Treats — FMS332

It’s time for a new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week our favorite New Zealander, Karren Johnson, is our hostess.  Take a look at the fun sketch she has for us:

Since Stampin’ Up! released the list of retiring products, I’ve been inspired to use those that I have loved before they will be gone.  When I saw this sketch, I grabbed the Cool Treats set off my shelf, dusted it off, and got to work.  This set and coordinating framelits make the cutest ice cream treats and popsicles.

I used another retiring product on this card — the Ticket Tear Border punch.  I feel like I barely got to know that punch.

The dsp I used is from the Tutti Frutti dsp stack.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you create as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happiest Birthday from the Ice Cream Shop — FMS284

It’s time for a new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  And this week it comes to us all the way from New Zealand.  Our good friend, Karren Johnson, has a sketch for us that I think you will love:

My favorite suite in the Occasions catalog is the Cool Treats suite.  It could be due to my love of ice cream, or it could be that I love the colors in this suite.  Or it could be that the images are just so darn cute, plus I really love the fonts on the sentiments.

I found that an easy way to get the tone on tone look on the bottom ice cream cone is to use a sponge dauber to lightly and evenly apply ink to the base image layer.  Then I inked up the swirls image with the ink pad and stamped over the base image.  Sometimes when I try stamping off once with a solid image like this base layer, it doesn’t look very good.  Using a sponge dauber works so much better for me.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to journey over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team created for your inspiration.  They always inspire me!

A Tower of Ice Cream — FMS270

It’s time for another sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches already!  And this week our friend in the Rockies, Kim Singdahlsen, is our hostess.  Take a look at this great sketch that she has for us:

fms-final-270-001I was trying to select an image that is tall and skinny, and decided that a tower of ice cream scoops would be perfect.  Guess I have ice cream on the brain as I am trying to be a healthy eater and shed those holiday pounds since the new year started.  I guess if I can’t eat it, I can have fun stamping it.

The Cool Treats suite was right at the top of my list from the new Occasions catalog.  I love the fun fonts of the sentiments and I love ice cream.  I think this set will be fun for so many occasions.

I chose to make my towering cone with Peekaboo Peach, Pool Party, and Watermelon Wonder inks.  The vertical sentiment was stamped with Chocolate Chip ink.
