Eclectic In-Colors — FMS189

It’s another Wednesday, and that means it’s time for another sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site. This week, our good friend from down under is our hostess, and she has a great sketch for us. Narelle is so talented at making multi-layered cards look clean and easy, so it’s no surprise that her sketch has some fun layers.

I pulled out a beloved stamp set that has gotten a little dusty on my shelf, Kinda Eclectic. I used some of the new In-Colors with it — Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, and Tip Top Taupe.

I started by embossing the sunburst image with some Crushed Curry embossing powder (retired now). The sentiment is from the Another Thank You photopolymer set.

Butterfly Thanks

I’m still in mourning over the retirement of the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die. I decided I’d better get another card or two made with it before the end of the month. Don’t worry — I’m sure my mourning period will be cut short once the new catalog is released. 🙂

I paired the die with the Watercolor Wonder dsp and the Another Thank You photopolymer stamp set.

I colored the rhinestones with the new Daffodil Delight Blendabilities markers. Because these markers are alcohol-based markers, the ink doesn’t come off of the rhinestones. Pretty cool, huh!

Washi Starburst

I’ve had this card sitting on my desk for over a couple of weeks, and I just couldn’t get happy with it. It was missing something. And then I remembered these cute little stars in the Sale-a-Bration set, Banner Blast. They seemed to add just a little something that was missing. So I only took a couple of weeks for this one, but it’s finished!

I made the “starburst” lines with washi tape. I love that stuff!

Simple Stems Mix

It’s here! The new Spring Catalog is out today! And there are so many fun, pretty things from which to choose.

I made a card with the Simple Stems stamp set for today. I am always a sucker for floral sets, and this card has a coordinating framelits set that you may already have in your collection — the Secret Garden framelits dies. I love it when you can use framelits with more than one stamp set! Of course, I picked one of the flowers in the stamp set that doesn’t have a framelit, so I hand cut it three times.

I ended up using a mix of stamps for this card. The flowers are from Simple Stems, but I also pulled out my Gorgeous Grunge set, Another Thank You (a photopolymer set), and I snuck in one of the cute banners from an upcoming Sale-a-Bration set called Banner Blast (it has a coordinating punch too). I had to force myself to stop there. 🙂

It has been so fun to use Spring-like colors this week instead of Christmas colors. It may still be winter, but I am enjoying using these colors.

Too Kind Thanks

I needed a thank you card, and I hadn’t used the Too Kind set in a while, so I pulled it out. AND I even used purple — shocking, I know! It wasn’t too hard to overcome my fear of this color as it is used in the Afternoon Picnic dsp collection, and I love this dsp.

Watercolor Resist

The watercolor look seems to be so popular these days, and I’ve seen so many cards out in blogland that use it beautifully. I’ve been wanting to try it myself, and finally made some time yesterday to play with it.

I started by embossing this super fun stamp from Another Thank You (a photopolymer set) with white embossing powder on watercolor paper. I then took my inkpads and an aquapainter and “scribbled” four different colors over the thank you. I added a few sequins and some baker’s twine, and then adhered it down to the card base. Easy-peasy! Scribbling has never been more fun!
