20th Anniversary — FMS215

It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for another sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.  And this week, the very talented Jen Mitchell is our hostess.  She always makes such beautiful clean cards.  This is what she has for us:

Banners make me think of celebrations, and my husband and I have a big something to celebrate today — our 20th wedding anniversary.  I know.  I know.  You’re thinking I couldn’t possibly be old enough to have been married for 20 years.  🙂  ha!  I have been very blessed to call this man my husband, and I needed to make a special card for him for this occasion.  Here is a picture of us on our wedding day.

Masculine cards are always so tough for me, and this one was no exception.  I quickly realized I am seriously lacking in the anniversary stamps department.  I think I need to remedy that!

I ended up using three different stamp sets.  I used the Perfect Pennants stamp set for the focal image on the banner.  I used the Project Life set, Day to Day, and the Crazy About You stamp set for the heart.  The colors used are Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate, and black.

20th anniversaryI used some of the Everyday Chic dsp and colored in random hearts with a Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Write Marker.  A little strip of Black Glimmer Paper adds a little sparkle, but since it’s black I figured it was still manly.  🙂

20th anniversary close upWe hope you’ll join us and make your own card for this challenge.  Meanwhile, you should jump over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team created.  That will definitely give you a boost of inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Geometric Wish — FMS144

There has been a flurry of stamping activity in my stamp room this past week.  Convention is only one week away, and I still have lots to do.  However, I had to take a break to make a card for this week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our talented friend from New Zealand, Karren Johnson, is our hostess this week and she has a very versatile one for us:

I decided I wanted to use some of the Confetti Celebration dsp, and the Arrows embossing folder coordinates with it so well, so I had to pull it out too.

Arrows and WishesI used the Perfect Pennants stamp set, and used a color combo of Strawberry Slush, Crushed Curry, and Bermuda Bay.

An Epic Day Happy Banner — FMS127

It’s Wednesday, and Spring Break is going by way too fast!  I think I enjoy Spring Break just as much, if not more, than the kids do.  It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and Jennifer Timko has a very fresh and clean sketch for us.

I used some of the Epic Day This and That suite of products — dsp and washi tape.  I still love this suite!  I also pulled out Gorgeous Grunge and Clockworks, two stamp sets I haven’t used in a while.  I stamped off these images first on scratch paper before stamping the background on the card, as I wanted a subtle look.

Epic Day Clockworks

You can check out what the other designers made with the sketch at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  Then, we hope you’ll make your own card and post it to the gallery so we can admire your creation.

Hello, Sweet Sorbet

Shoebox Swap

My upline and sweet friend had a group meeting yesterday, and one of the fun things we did together was a shoe box swap.  Everyone designed a different card, put all of the “ingredients” for the card in a shoe box, and then we rotated around the tables and made all of the cards.  It’s a great way to get ideas from each other, and it’s just fun to stamp together.  This was the card I planned for the group.

There isn’t a lot of stamping on it — just a lot of dies and punches.  But those are all fun things too.

Enjoy your Sunday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Good Thoughts Film Strip — FMS 122

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Wednesdays bring a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and our hostess, Cindy Hall, has a versatile sketch for us this week:

I decided to use the filmstrip die from the On Film Framelits dies for the focal image in the sketch.  I combined it with a stamped image from the Perfect Pennants stamp set.

Good Thoughts Film StripI used some Pool Party Core’dinations card stock and the Sale-a-Bration embossing folder for the background.  And I used some of the beautiful and fun Sale-a-Bration dsp as well.

Two for One — Monday Montage #11

Monday Montage Banner -- October

We’re excited to share with you another Monday Montage blog hop today.  There are ten of us participating, and you can work your way through all ten posts by clicking on the arrow links at the bottom of each post.

I find that sometimes when I have supplies out from making one card, it just makes sense to make another.  I usually don’t want to make the exact same thing again, but I’ll use the same supplies to make something a little different.

So, I had some Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, and Coastal Cabana card stock and inks out.  Love this color combo, by the way.  I also had the new dsp stack, Fresh Prints, out as well as some Tea Lace doilies and Calypso Coral Baker’s Twine.  I pulled out my new Banners Framelits dies and coordinating Perfect Pennants stamp set and whipped up two cards.

Coastal WishOn the above card, I also used the little star stamp that will be included in a new Sale-a-Bration set, Banner Blast, that will be out on January 28.  I also include a button from the Basic Metal Buttons collection in the Spring catalog.

Happy BannersOn this second card, I used a different image from the Perfect Pennants set and a snippet of Pear Pizzazz dsp from the Subtles DSP stack.  The Banners Framelits make it so easy to cut out perfect banners.

Well, you’re ready to hop on over to Breelin Renwick’s blog and check out her fabulous creations.  Just click the Next arrow below.  Or, if you’d rather work your way backwards, you can go visit the talented Wendy Weixler’s blog.  Either way, you can work your way through the nine other blogs.

You & Me — FMS119

It’s good to be back on schedule with another Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  Today, the lovely Cindy Lovell, who has been so kind to step in with us, has an awesome sketch for us.  I think you’ll find it right on trend, as I’ve seen so many cards which have panels set on an angle.

I knew I wanted to make another Valentine’s card, so I substituted a heart for the star image on the sketch.  And since I love the look of doilies for Valentine’s Day, I added that too.  I like the way the doily softened up the lines of the sketch.

Me and YouI hope you can make the time to join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to look through the gallery each week and get inspiration from your creations.  Hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site and check out what the other designers made.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:

Life Doesn’t Have to be Perfect to be Wonderful

Isn’t that a great sentiment?  It’s so true.

When I saw the challenge over at the Paper Players for this week, I knew I had to play along.  I think I’m one of the last stampers out there who hasn’t tried the chalkboard technique.  I’m not much of a technique stamper, so while I’ve admired many others’ chalkboard cards, I just hadn’t tried it myself.  This challenge gave me the little nudge I needed.  Thanks, Nance!

I used this fun sentiment from Perfect Pennants and used a few of the coordinating Banners Framelits dies to make my card.

chalkboardI used a mix of dsp sheets from the Fresh Prints dsp stack, Soho Subway, and Kaleidoscope dsp.

Enjoy your Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Make a Wish — Monday Montage #10

Monday Montage Banner -- October

We’re back for the New Year!  It’s time for another Monday Montage Blog Hop.  You can work your way through all ten participants by clicking on the “next” button at the bottom of each post.  You won’t want to miss any of them.

I have a card for you with lots of new goodies from the new Spring Occasions catalog.  There’s also a little peek at a new stamp set coming out in the Sale-a-Bration catalog later this month (look for the little stars).

Film Reel Wish Big

I am really loving this new film strip die, which is included in the On Film framelits die set.  The dsp is from the Kaleidoscope pack, and the sentiment is from the Perfect Pennants stamp set.

You’re ready to hop on over to Breelin Renwick’s blog and view her awesome creativity.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can hop on over to the fabulous Wendy Weixler’s blog and go that route.
