Windows to Halloween — FMS509

We have the last sketch of October over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the amazing Jennifer Timko, who has a fun slimline card design for us. Take a look:

I needed one more Halloween card, and thought the little images in the Frightfully Cute stamp set would be perfect for the three little squares. I decided to make a tri-fold card and have the images peek out from cut-out windows.

I started this one by cutting out the three squares and used the Stitched with Whimsy Dies to add a little stitching around them. I stamped and embossed the sentiment from the Frightfully Cute stamp set. All of the stamped images and sentiments came from this set. In fact, I used every single image while making this card! I never do that! It was fun doing all of that stamping — except for when I stamped this sentiment as my very last step and discovered I placed it a little too high. Oh well! I wasn’t starting over!

While the card was closed, I lightly traced around the squares onto the white card stock with a pencil and then stamped the images inside those squares.

Here’s what the card looks like when it is fully open. I added a piece of Cute Halloween dsp to the center panel.

This definitely wasn’t a quick card, but it sure was fun to make! It was fun to just make something different than normal.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Frightfully Cute — FMS507

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our favorite theater-loving Nebraskan, Judy Rozema. She’s also a pretty fabulous card designer too! Take a look at her fun sketch this week:

With Halloween right around the corner, I decided to make another card for the holiday. I used the Cute Halloween dsp, and cut out a couple of ghosts from one of the sheets. The other side of this particular sheet has a fun black and white pattern with Boo written all over it, which is perfect with the cute ghosts.

The sentiment is from the Frightfully Cute stamp set, and was embossed with white embossing powder. I added some fun Cute Stars Adhesive Backed Sequins as embellishments, as well as some black baker’s twine.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Witch Way to the Candy? — FMS505

There’s a new sketch today at Freshly Made Sketches, and our hostess today comes all the way from the land down under. Narelle Farrugia is our resident queen of florals, fussy cutting, and gorgeous cards. And great sketches — take a look at her current one:

Halloween is just around the corner, so I thought I should use the sketch to make a card for a Halloween care package. I just wanted a little something to tuck into a package so I made a 3″ x 3″ card. I hadn’t made one of these little cards in a while, and had forgotten how much fun they are.

This little card was made using the Frightfully Cute stamp set and the Cute Halloween designer paper. I started by stamping the moon with Crushed Curry ink and then stamped the witch over part of it. I then used my paper snips to cut this out.

The sentiments are from the same stamp set and were stamped with Rich Razzleberry ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I added some old adhesive dots from a Paper Pumpkin kit and some old baker’s twine.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has made for your inspiration.
