C is for Congratulations, Cole — FMS482

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our fabulous hostess, Karren Johnson, is providing us a slimline card sketch all the way from New Zealand. I love how technology makes that so easy! Take a look at her fun sketch:

Before I even looked at the sketch, I knew I was going to make a graduation card because our son is graduating next week! He graduated last year with his Bachelor’s degree, but didn’t get to participate in any graduation activities because of, you know, Covid. Next week, he’ll be graduating with his Masters in Accounting from the University of Alabama and I can’t wait to celebrate with him. This handsome guy had a wonderful four years at Alabama and he’ll be starting his career with Ernst & Young in Atlanta in July.

For his card, I used the retiring set, Monogram Messages. I paired it with some miscellaneous graduation stamps I have held onto over the years and some old dsp that was in my stash.

I started by applying some embossing paste, which I haven’t used in a very long time, over a retired stars stencil. I love the texture it adds.

I printed Cole’s name off on some card stock and cut it out and pasted it onto the card to personalize it. Plus, his name starts with C, so it seemed fitting for the theme of the card.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

C is for Celebrate — PP500

One of the first weekly challenge sites I stumbled across way back when was The Paper Players site.  And this week they are celebrating their 500th challenge.  WOW!!  That’s a lot of inspiration!  They have a fabulous design team full of wonderful stampers and some of the nicest people.  I really wanted to play along with this special challenge.

I still had the Playing with Patterns dsp on my workspace and that seems like such a celebratory pack of paper, so that was my starting point.  When I was looking through my stamp sets and saw that the Monogram Messages set has a Celebrate stamp, I knew just what to use.

I started by stamping the balloons with Crushed Curry, Blushing Bride, and Coastal Cabana inks on a square of white card stock.  I then stamped the sentiment with Crushed Curry and Night of Navy inks.  The “C” was stamped with Calypso Coral ink and cut out with my paper snips.  I added some sequins from my stash and a piece of white baker’s twine.  This was an easy and quick one!

Monogram Birthday — FMS441

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the lovely Judy Rozema.  Take a look at this fun sketch:

I still had my Playing with Patterns dsp on my desk and the other half of a piece of Purple Posy card stock from my previous card making experience, and when I saw this sketch I immediately had a vision of what I wanted to do with it.  Since that seldom happens, I decided to run with it.

Using a Night of Navy ink pad, I stamped the H from the Monogram Messages stamp set and cut it out with my paper snips.  I then stamped the remainder of the sentiment on some white paper scraps and cut them out.  I used the Layering Circles dies to cut out the two circle shapes and stamped the two balloons using Crushed Curry ink that had been stamped off twice and drew the strings with a Purple Posy marker.

This piece of dsp is one of my favorites from this pack.  And I am really loving this color combo.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  Meanwhile be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Monogram Baby — FMS439

We’re back with another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our sketch comes all the way from the land down under.  Narelle Farrugia, our resident Artisan and floral queen, is our hostess this week and she has a good one for us.  Take a look:

I just got a box of new goodies from the new catalog yesterday, so I knew I wanted to use something from it for the sketch.  One of the items that made it into my cart at the last minute was the Monogram Messages stamp set.  I didn’t have any current baby themed sets and this particular set looked very versatile for other occasions as well.  Plus, the sample in the catalog totally sold me on it.  When I saw this sketch, it reminded me of that sample so I decided to use it.

This card actually has lots of new things.  I started by stamping the images with new colors — Bumblebee, Magenta Madness and Just Jade.  I placed the focal panel on one of the new Square Vellum Doilies, which was placed on a square of a piece of paper from the Flowers for Every Season pack.  All of this was placed on a piece of card stock run through the Big Shot using the new Dainty Diamonds embossing folder.  This folder is incredible — I love the intricate detail.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.
