C is for Congratulations, Cole — FMS482

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our fabulous hostess, Karren Johnson, is providing us a slimline card sketch all the way from New Zealand. I love how technology makes that so easy! Take a look at her fun sketch:

Before I even looked at the sketch, I knew I was going to make a graduation card because our son is graduating next week! He graduated last year with his Bachelor’s degree, but didn’t get to participate in any graduation activities because of, you know, Covid. Next week, he’ll be graduating with his Masters in Accounting from the University of Alabama and I can’t wait to celebrate with him. This handsome guy had a wonderful four years at Alabama and he’ll be starting his career with Ernst & Young in Atlanta in July.

For his card, I used the retiring set, Monogram Messages. I paired it with some miscellaneous graduation stamps I have held onto over the years and some old dsp that was in my stash.

I started by applying some embossing paste, which I haven’t used in a very long time, over a retired stars stencil. I love the texture it adds.

I printed Cole’s name off on some card stock and cut it out and pasted it onto the card to personalize it. Plus, his name starts with C, so it seemed fitting for the theme of the card.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Well, first of all, congratulations to Cole! How wonderful – and best wishes to him in his new job in Atlanta! Your card is also wonderful! I love the paste and the texture too, and am always thinking “I need to use mine” and then I forget! The stars look amazing! Love everything about the card – including the big C!

  2. Wow- Five years goes by in a heartbeat! Congrats to Cole for sure! Your card is perfect! Love those textured stars and of course the red and white theme!

  3. Congrats to Cole. Been there and done that. Hardest part was taking the CPA exam. But sure he will do great. Hang in there Cole. Working for Big 4 will be challenging and exciting. Let the adventures begin. Great incorporation of Bama colors on this card.

  4. Congratulations Cole! How is it even possible that he is graduating with his Masters already? Didn’t he just go away to school?! Time is flying! Your card is fabulous and he is going to love it! I love the red and white and those background stars are perfect! Cole will love it!

  5. The best thing about card-making is when we can personalise the message and this is just perfect! Congrats to Cole and all best wishes for a bright and happy future.
