A Fond Farewell to You’re Amazing and Field Flowers — Monday Montage #18

Monday Montage Banner -- OctoberIt’s time for another Monday Montage blog hop.  You can hop your way through all ten posts by clicking on the “Next” or “Back” buttons at the end of each post.  You won’t want to miss any of them!

I’m continuing on with my theme for the week — featuring the retiring stamp sets that I love most and will be sad to see go.  I have two cards for you today — You’re Amazing and Field Flowers.  I made them both at the same time using the same supplies, so you’ll see the same color schemes, dsp, and other products.  I’ll list the supplies at the bottom.

Farewell to You're AmazingI mentioned in a recent post that I hoped this set, You’re Amazing, wouldn’t be on the retiring set.  Well, my wish wasn’t granted.  I’ll miss this one.  I love all of the images in this set!

Farewell to You're Amazing Close UpAnother set that I’ll really miss is Field Flowers.  I think the detail on these flowers is gorgeous.  And I love the look that two-step stamping gives you.

Farewell to Field FlowersI used a sponge dauber to lightly sponge some Soft Sky ink onto the background.  Another product on both of these cards that is retiring is the Calypso Coral Baker’s Twine.  That one makes me sad too!

Farewell to Field Flowers Close UpWhen I’m tempted to tear up over these retirements, I just try to remember that it is only a little over a month away before the new catalog will be released and there will be many new fabulous products to love.  How exciting!  If there’s a retiring product that you love, don’t delay — go get it now because so many of them are selling out.

You’re ready to hop on over to Breelin Renwick’s blog for a heavy dose of inspiration.  She always delivers.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can choose to hop on over to Wendy Weixler’s amazing blog and see her fantastic creativity at work.  Either way, just keep hopping along until you’ve seen all ten posts.

Amazing Subway

You're Amazing Subway StyleI pulled out an old favorite stamp set today, You’re Amazing.  It’s been a while since I’ve used it and I love this set.  At this time of year I start feeling a little sentimental.  Stampin’ Up! will release its retiring list next week, and those stamps on the list will never be available again.  Now I don’t know what sets will be on it yet, but those sets that have been around for a while and I don’t see getting used much anymore always make me a little anxious.  This is one that I hope isn’t on the list.  I may not use it much anymore, but I still love it.

I used my markers (Island Indigo, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Summer Starfruit) to color the stamp.  I then cut it out with one of the Apothecary Accents dies.  Since I didn’t quite allow enough room on one side of the sentiment for the die when I stamped it, I cut off a little bit on one of the sides.  So I took my paper snips and rounded it out a bit and did the same on the other side.  I like the look it gave it!  I then sponged a little Crumb Cake ink on the edges.

you're amazing subway style close upI used some of the dsp patterns from the Soho Subway package.  I added some Linen Thread and Island Indigo Baker’s Twine to make a bow, and then placed one of the Crisp Cantaloupe Boutique Details and some Crisp Cantaloupe ruffled ribbon on top.  I just love that color, don’t you?

Enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Using Some Old Favorites

I really love the sketch over at CAS(e) This Sketch this week, so I decided I needed to play along.

I don’t have any airplane stamps, so I decided to pull out a hot air balloon stamp from one of my favorite “old” stamp sets, “You’re Amazing.”  I used this set so much last year, and this year not so much.  But I still love it!  I also pulled out some “old” washi tape, and I must say that I still love the This and That Epic Day collection of products.  It’s fun to pull out some old favorites every now and then.

A Birthday Elephant — PP128

Our challenge this week at the Paper Players is a fun color challenge from Anne Marie.

Now, I haven’t used the You’re Amazing set in a while, and I’ve missed it.  So I had to pull the elephant stamp out when I saw that gray was one of the colors included in the challenge.  I hope you love this stamp set as much as I do because I know I use it a lot.  🙂

I hope you’ll be able to participate in the challenge this week.  I’d love to see what you do with these colors!  In the mean while, you can go by the other designers’ blogs and see what they have done with their creativity:

You’re Amazing Birthday

Here’s a birthday card I made using the You’re Amazing stamp set.  I got the color scheme from the Color Coach (LOVE that thing).  In the midst of making Christmas cards, I had managed to stay away from You’re Amazing for a little while.  I used it a couple of days ago and didn’t put it away.  When I saw it on my desk today, I couldn’t resist — I had to use it again!  Don’t worry — I put it away after using it today.  I’m sure I won’t be able to resist its pull for too long though.  🙂

I hope you have a fun Saturday planned!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Thankful Elephant

I wanted to make a thank you card for a customer, and she likes elephants.  So I knew I wanted to use the You’re Amazing stamp set because it has such a cute elephant.  I thought the sketch challenge at the Freshly Made Sketches site would be perfect for this card.

Banners are Amazing

It has been hard for me to make a card these past few months without banners, or pennants, or flags, or whatever you like to call them.  They are really trendy right now, and I’m hooked.  So when I saw the challenge at Create with Connie & Mary, I had to play along.

A Birthday Balloon of Many Colors

I wanted to make a birthday card today and since I’ve barely used any of my International Bazaar designer series paper, I decided that I needed to use it.  This paper intimidates me a little though because the patterns are pretty busy and there are a lot of colors involved.  So I decided to use it in small doses.  I’ve gotta work my way up to it, I guess.  🙂

Have a great Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Give the Elephant a Ticket

Freshly Made Sketches is celebrating their one year anniversary this week, and their weekly challenge is to make a card using any of their past sketches.  Since I just found this site a few weeks ago, I loved looking at all of the sketches I missed out on.  I ended up choosing sketch #25 for my card.

And here’s my card:

I don’t know what it is about the elephant image in the You’re Amazing stamp set, but I just love him!  I think it’s the cute hat he’s wearing.  Once again, I pulled out the ticket wheel.  I must say I’ve gotten more use out of this wheel than I have out of all my other wheels combined.  Love that thing!  I used a blender pen to color the elephant with my ink pads.  Enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend!

Stamps:  You’re Amazing, Take a Ticket
