Superhero Amazing — FMS380

We have a new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week one of our newest team members, Jacquie Southas, has a great one for us.  Take a peek:

My older daughter is a Senior in high school this year and will be taking her IB exams in a couple months.  They take place every day over a two week period and are comprehensive exams in all of her subjects.  It’s a very intense process.  I’m trying to stock up on encouraging notes and cards to stick in her lunches for those days.

When I saw this sketch, I searched my stamp shelves for stamp sets that had a small image that would work well repeated for the sketch.  I pulled out the Bubble Over stamp set and thought the star would be a simple and fun image for her.  I started out by stamping it several times in bright, happy colors but then was struck with an idea.  Since she is a huge Marvel fan, I thought the image was a good replica of Captain America’s shield.  And then I thought I could find a sentiment with “Super” in it, but I don’t have anything.  Rather than using an alphabet set and making my own, I found a sentiment with “Amazing.”  I thought it was close enough.

I stamped the image with Blueberry Bushel ink and punched it out with a 3/4″ circle punch.  I then used a 1″ circle punch to make the Poppy Parade circles.  The center star has a Dazzling Diamonds star on it, but it’s hard to tell in the picture.

The sentiment is from the Amazing Life stamp set.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Birthday Brew — FMS356

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our lovely Canadian friend, Jen Brum, who makes such beautiful clean cards (and who may, or may not, have a phobia when it comes to circles — ha!).   Take a look at this circle-free card that she has for us this week:

Those three panels gave me fits!  I tried many different things with them and just couldn’t get happy.  Then I pulled a dusty stamp set off my shelf, and after playing with it I wondered why I hadn’t used it in so long.  It is such a fun set!  That stamp set was the Bubble Over stamp set.

I sponged the ink onto the stamp and stamped it with Pool Party, Petal Pink, and Soft Sea Foam.  The card base is Gray Granite.  The dsp is from the Twinkle, Twinkle dsp collection.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Bubbly Thanks — Monday Montage #110

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of nine stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

One of the cutest suites in the Occasions catalog has to be the Bubble Over suite.  And with the free dsp offered through the Sale-a-Bration offering, it was a must-have for me.  While it was one of the first things on my initial order, the bottles in this set had yet to see ink until this past week.  Once I finally started playing with it, I had so much fun with it.

I started by sponging on some Pool Party ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I then stamped the bubbles, some using the stamped-off technique.  A couple of strips of dsp were added to ground the bottles.

For the bottles, I sponged on some ink directly to the stamps.  This provided a softer image.  Some Glitter Epoxy Shapes were added to resemble the perspiration on the bottles.  The star label on the Calypso Coral bottle was punched from the dsp, and the straws were die-cut from vellum cardstock and the bottle caps from a Silver Foil sheet.

You’re ready to hop on over to Breelin Renwick’s blog.  I always love seeing what she makes!  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Wendy Weixler’s blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing.

Happy Bubbles — FMS323

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our friend from way over in beautiful New Zealand, Karren Johnson, is our hostess.  Take a look at this fun sketch!

When I first saw the sketch, I thought it would be perfect to showcase some dsp.  And my favorite dsp right now is the free Sale-a-Bration offering, Bubbles & Fizz.  I love the fun patterns and I love the fun colors.

One of the dsp sheets has little soda bottles (or pop bottles, or Coke bottles, or what do you call them?).  I cut some out with my paper snips and added them as embellishments.

The Calypso Coral base layer was stamped with one of the images in the coordinating stamp set, Bubble Over.  The sentiment is also from this stamp set and was embossed with white embossing powder.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to see how you use the sketch.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.
