Eclectic Trio — FMS302

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week we have one all the way from France, courtesy of our lovely friend, Cecile Ribon.  Take a look at what she has for us:

I love a good collage style sketch and this one is fun because all of the shapes are different and they’re large.  I started out by grabbing a die-cut flower from the May Flowers Framelits collection that I’ve had on my desk for a long time.  I didn’t use it on a project I made months ago and it has been patiently sitting on my desk waiting for a forever home.  I thought it would be great for the pink circle part of the sketch.  Then I thought some leaves would be great for the green triangle image, which spurred me to grab the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.  When I stamped the leaves with the coordinating Oh So Eclectic stamp set, I thought I might as well use one of the flowers from that stamp set since it was out (yeah — I’m lazy like that).  And there you go — I had my three shapes for the collage.

I stamped some splatters from Touches of Texture and some black + symbols from the Oh So Eclectic set in the background.  A bit of black baker’s twine and gold sequin trim were added as well.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch.  We love to look through the gallery and see what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has whipped up for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

An Eclectic Pink Bouquet — FMS295

I hope everyone had an enjoyable 4th here in the U.S. Ours was very low-key. I did some baking in the morning, stamping in the afternoon, and grilling and fireworks in the evening. And spent the entire day with the kids and my hubby. We usually spend the holiday in Kansas with my parents but because of other things we have going on this week we couldn’t do that this year. So it was a very different day — no buying fireworks for the kids to shoot off (not legal where we live) and a quiet house (just the 5 of us vs. a big family get-together). I loved it, but I’m looking forward to resuming our annual tradition next year.

Since it’s Wednesday, it’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. And this week, our talented friend from the land down under, Narelle Farrugia, is our hostess. She has a great, classic-style sketch for us:

I knew right away I wanted to use a flower for the circle element in the sketch since this is a Narelle sketch and she is the queen of beautiful floral cards.  I decided to use the Oh, So Eclectic set because I received this set at a SU event and it has been sitting on my shelf unassembled since April.

I stamped the flower using Powder Pink ink.  It is a two-step stamp set and the base layer image provides beautiful shading.  It looks watercolored, but it is just stamped.

The diamond patterns was made using a die from the coordinating framelits set, Eclectic Layers Thinlits dies.  These were actually the pieces that are discarded from the die, but I thought they were too pretty to toss so I just glued them down on the card base.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch.  We love to see what you create!  Meanwhile, be sure to jump on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!
