Penguin Greetings — FMS564

We’re in the thick of things now! Just a little bit over three weeks before Christmas. With a to-do list a mile long, it was a nice break to do a little stamping. And Cecile Ribon, our favorite French stamper and queen of creating beautiful cards with die-cuts, has provided a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches that is perfect for getting a jump on creativity. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I hadn’t used the adorable Penguin Place stamp set yet this season, so I was itching to make a little scene with it and I thought the sketch provided a perfect layout.

I started by stamping the cute little penguin, trees, and present and then cut/punched them out. I added some snowflake sequins. The sentiment is from the penguin stamp set too.

I placed it all on a sheet of white card stock that was cut using the Dots & Spots die. This really was an easy card thanks to Cecile’s great sketch!

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

A Chill Penguin — FMS512

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is Kim Singdahlsen, our super talented Coloradan friend. Take a look at her fun sketch:

Now that I am in the throes of Christmas card making, I wanted to use the cute little penguin in the Penguin Place stamp set and I thought he would work well as a substitute for the tree in the sketch.

I started by cutting out some dsp from the Sweet Stockings dsp collection. I added a Wonderful Snowflake upon which to place my penguin friend. He was stamped and punched out with the coordinating punch. I then stamped and cut out the trees and his accessories with my paper snips.

I added some little Snowflake Sequins and cut out the sentiment from the same stamp set.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you create as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

A Penguin Playmate — FMS501

Oh, we had a fun time celebrating our 500th sketch at Freshly Made Sketches last week — a fabulous gallery, prizes and so many supportive comments! Thank you to everyone who participated in one way or another! With that milestone achieved, it’s time to work on another. This week’s hostess, our favorite Coloradoan, Kim Singdahlsen, has a great sketch to get us started. Take a look:

There are some really cute products in the current Sale-a-Bration offering. One of the first ones on my list was the Penguin Playmates 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. It is designed to coordinate with the Penguin Place bundle in the holiday mini catalog.

I started this card using a blending brush to apply some Misty Moonlight ink onto a white piece of card stock. Some splatters were added ( I think I got more of the white acrylic paint in my hair than on the paper ) and I cut it out with a die from the Nature’s Thoughts Dies collection.

The sweet bear was cut out of the dsp with my paper snips and popped up with dimensionals. I stamped the balloon and sentiments with stamps from the Penguin Place stamp set. The striped dsp is also from the Penguin Playmates dsp collection.

While this suite is perfectly suited for holiday cards, it’s also cute for other occasions!

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has made for your inspiration!
