A Bird for Mom — FMS434

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the talented and very witty New Yorker, Linda Callahan.  She has a good one for us!  Take a look:

I finished my last card for mother’s day with this one.  My mother-in-law loves birds, so I knew exactly what I wanted to use for this card — the beautiful Free as a Bird Bundle.  I think this dsp is some of the prettiest ever that Stampin’ Up has made.

I started by using my paper snips to cut out this pretty bird and the flowering branch.  I placed it on a labels die-cut and stamped the sentiment which is from an old Paper Pumpkin stamp set.

I stamped some of the little flowers from the coordinating stamp set on a piece of Crumb Cake card stock and placed the dsp pieces and focal piece on top.  A little bow made from linen thread and some Champagne Rhinestone jewels were added as embellishments.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to see what you create as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Three Little Birds — FMS402

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our ink-blending and coloring pro, Karren Johnson, is our hostess.  Take a look at this fun sketch:

Since it is still hot as blazes here in Texas, I just can’t even look at my pretty Fall and Christmas stamps yet.  When I saw the circles in this sketch, I thought of those sweet little birds in the Bird Ballad Suite.  I got out my paper snips and cut some of them out.

I started out by sponging some Pool Party ink onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I then cut a strip of the pretty pink polka dot paper from the same dsp pack and mounted it on another piece of whisper white card stock that I had cut out using a scalloped die from the Stitched Be Mine dies collection.

I added a little baker’s twine and a few sequins, and called it a day.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Birds & Flowers — FMS#400

We are continuing the celebration of our 400th sketch milestone at Freshly Made Sketches this month, and this week we are revisiting sketch #200.  This sketch leaves lots of room for creativity and it should be fun to see how everyone uses it.  Take a look:

I hadn’t used my Free as a Bird stamp set and coordinating dsp in a while, and I thought this sketch would be perfect to show off this pretty paper.  This card was really easy to put together.

I colored the stamped image with markers and only added some black baker’s twine as an embellishment.  Super easy!

We hope you’ll join in on our celebration and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Can’t Get Enough of Free as a Bird — FMS#393

It’s time for another sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the supremely talented Lee Ann Barrett.  She has a great sketch for us that includes some fun layers.

When I first saw the sketch, I immediately thought of a stamp from Free as a Bird, which I knew would work perfectly with the sketch.  I’ve been using this set a lot for two reasons.  One, I love it!  And two, I still haven’t ordered from the new catalog yet.  I just have two sets I got during the pre-order period and this is one of them.  I think I need to rectify this situation.  🙂

I’ve been on a pink kick lately.  I’m normally not a pink girl, but here lately I’ve found myself using it a lot.  I started by water coloring the card with an aqua painter and ink pads.  I added a bit of dsp from the Bird Ballad collection and a bit of retired lace from the old catalog (I don’t have the new yet).

The sentiment is from the Piece of Cake stamp set.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Sweet Robin — FMS389

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess, Narelle Farrugia, is providing a sketch from the land down under.  She has a good one — I love a simple collage.  Take a look:

Since I still had the Free as a Bird stamp set on my desk and I needed to make a thank you card for someone who loves birds, it was an easy decision on what set to use.  I did some fussy cutting on this one and used an embossing folder.  Two things I don’t do very often, though I like them both.

I colored the robin (I don’t know if that’s what this bird was designed to be, but that’s how I tried to color it) with markers.  The background circle was sponged with some Balmy Blue ink .

I looped some Linen Thread behind the circle and added some Metallic Pearls as embellishments.

The more I play with this suite, which will be available in the new catalog in two weeks, the more I love it.  I love the sentiments and I love the images.  A double win!

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you create as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Sweet Birds — Monday Montage #139

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

I recently pre-ordered just a few things from the new catalog which will be released in two short weeks.  One of my favorite bundles in the new catalog is the Bird Ballad suite.  I think the birds in this suite are perfectly sweet!  (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself).

I colored the birds with markers and cut them out with a Stitched Nested Labels Die.  This set of dies will be included in the Free as a Bird bundle.  I added some Braided Linen Trim, some Share What You Love Artisan Pearls, and Gingham Gala sequins.

You’re ready to hop on over to Cathy Casey’s blog.  I always love seeing what she makes!  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Wendy Weixler’s blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing.
