A Doily Hi

The super talented Anne Marie has a great CAS (Clean And Simple) challenge for us this week at the Paper Players:

I decided to really focus on the CAS aspect of this challenge, because I often struggle with this.  And struggle I did — I have several versions of this very simple card in my trash can.  Either I didn’t line the two layers up properly, or I stamped the sentiment crooked, or I got a random smear of ink on the white card stock, or somehow otherwise messed it up.  I was quite frustrated with this little card by the time I finished.  Guess I need more practice with CAS, huh!?

I hope you can join us in this challenge.  Meanwhile, you can check out the other designers’ creations here:

Doilies Galore — FabFri19

It’s time for another Fab Friday challenge!  And we have a great sketch challenge for you this time:

I used a little mix of old and new on this card — some new colors (Strawberry Slush and Smoky Slate), some new dsp (Quatrefancy Specialty dsp), and some old favorites (Large Delicate Doilies Sizzlits die, Delicate Doilies and Oh, Hello stamps).

Doilies Galore

Today is the day when you can order from the new catalog.  Yippee!  Today is one of the last days that you can order from the old catalog and the Spring catalog as well.  Sounds like a great day to order to me!

I hope that over the next two weeks you’ll be able to join us at Fab Friday with this challenge.  Go check out what the rest of the design team made at the Fab Friday site.

Bottlecaps Meet Epic Day

Vintage Bottlecap

I’ll bet you’re not surprised to see another card using the This and That Epic Day dsp.  You’re probably not surprised to see that I used the Color Spritzer tool again either.  I’m getting too predictable.  I’ll have to work on that this next week.

Have a great Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Baby Card — PP 133

It’s time for a CAS challenge at the Paper Players this week.  Anne Marie has chosen a fun one.

I was afraid I was going to be in a bit of trouble with this challenge, as I don’t own a single baby-themed stamp set.  I know — it’s shocking, especially when one considers how many stamp sets I have. 🙂  But fortunately, there was a baby themed sentiment in the Ciao, Baby! set (misleading name — this is the only “baby” stamp in the set).

Oh, Baby -- PP133

I know this is an unusual color combination for a baby card, but I love these colors together.  I got the combo from the Color Coach (love that thing).  Here’s a closer view of the smashed bottle cap:

I used the sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches site.

I hope you’ll be able to join in the fun at the Paper Players this week!  Here’s what the other designers did with the challenge:

A Pretty, Girly Birthday Card

Pretty Girly Birthday

Well, I think I’ve found a new favorite color combination — for this week, anyways.  It’s Baja Breeze, Melon Mambo, So Saffron, and Crumb Cake.  If you follow this blog at all, you’re probably shocked Pool Party isn’t in there.  Don’t worry — it’s still my favorite color — I just thought I should try something new today.  🙂

Today’s your last chance to get in my drawing for blog candy (see Saturday’s post for information).  I’ll draw a random winner this evening and post the winner’s name tomorrow.  Check back to see if it’s you tomorrow.

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Soft Soda Pop Top Card — FabFri10

It’s Friday!  And this week is another Fab Friday challenge.  It’s a color challenge this week.

When I first saw the colors, I thought the challenge would be pretty easy since I love all of these colors.  However, after struggling for a long while with how to incorporate them all into one card, I decided that this would truly be a challenge for me.  I knew I wanted to somehow incorporate the new soda pop tops into my project because I hadn’t used them yet.  Here’s what I ended up with after much deliberation.  I must have pulled out dozens of patterned papers and stamp sets.

Soft Soda Pop Top -- FabFri09

I used the new stamp set, Collage Curios, for the circle inside the Soda Pop Top.  I layered two of the stamped doilies from Delicate Doilies under it.  Here’s a closer look at the Soda Pop Top:

Postage Doily

I wanted to play along with the sketch challenge at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  I love this sketch!  When LeAnne said this is her “go to” sketch, I had to laugh because it is one that I use as my “go to” sketch also.  It’s just a versatile sketch, I guess!

I haven’t used the Postage Due stamp set very much since I got it, and I love it.  So I pulled it out for this sketch.  I embossed it on the gray card stock with clear embossing powder and then tried to distress it with some Crumb Cake ink and a sponge dauber and my scissors.  With all of the coordinating punches and dies that Stampin’ Up sells, this was a pretty quick and easy card to make.

Enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!
