CAS Bloom — FMS161

Another Wednesday, another great new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.  And this week the super talented Linda Callahan is our hostess.  Look at what she has for us:

This is a simple and versatile sketch, and I struggled and struggled with it.  I was determined to use a certain stamp set with it, and after two hours of trying to make it work and filling up my trash can, I pulled an old favorite off my stamp shelf and I was finished in less than ten minutes.

I miss you bloomingI hadn’t used Blooming with Kindness in a long while, and I love this set.  I used a color combo of Kraft, Strawberry Slush, and Hello Honey.

I kept it very clean and simple, and when I’m struggling with a card that is the best route for me.

I miss you blooming close upWe hope you’ll join us and make your own card with this sketch.  If you do, please link it to our gallery so we can see it too.  We love looking at what you make.  You can check out what the rest of the design team made at the Freshly Made Sketches site for some inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Blooming with Afternoon Picnic — FMS133

It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week the ultra-talented Cindy Lovell is our hostess, and she has a great sketch for us:

I pulled out my Blooming with Kindness set and decided to use the soft, pretty colors from the Afternoon Picnic dsp.

Blooming with PurpleThe sentiment is from Lacy & Lovely, which is on the retiring list.  So is the Pool Party Seam Binding ribbon I’ve used.

Warm Woodgrain Wishes & Blog Candy Winner

I love the sketch over at Retro Sketches this week, so I decided to play along this morning.

I pulled out Blooming with Kindness, which I haven’t used in a while.  I inked up the stamp with Crisp Cantaloupe ink and put some Pistachio Pudding ink on the stem with my Stampin’ Write marker.  Then I took a sponge dauber and applied a little bit of Calypso Coral ink on part of the flower.  It’s subtle, but it adds a little bit of depth.

I used clear embossing powder to emboss the woodgrain pattern on the Crumb Cake card base.

Warm Woodgrain Wishes

Thanks for all of the kind comments on the blog candy post.  I always enjoy hearing from you!  I used a random number generator (which is frustrating me because I can’t seem to copy and paste the results) to pick the winner, and that person is:

Blooming Cantaloupe — FMS89

It’s Wednesday, and the very talented Rita Wright has a very fun sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches:

Banners and baker’s twine — what’s not to love?  I decided to play with another new in-color tonight — Crisp Cantaloupe.  I’ve decided that I really like it paired with Calypso Coral.  I also added Baked Brown Sugar to the mix for this card.

I’ll Miss Baja Breeze and the First Edition DSP

I needed to make a simple thank you card to put in the mail.  This card is a notecard sized card.  I still have some of my First Edition dsp that I covered with Gesso a while back.  I stamped the flower and sentiment directly on it (don’t forget to give it plenty of time to dry after stamping).

Thankful Bloom

I used a couple of my favorite retiring products on this card — Baja Breeze card stock and ink and the First Edition dsp.  I will really miss both of these.   However, after looking at the new catalog (which will go live on May 31), there are some beautiful new blues coming and there is a new background stamp that could be used to achieve a similar look as the dsp.  Whew!

Enjoy your Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Blooming with Sympathy — FabFri15

It’s time for another Fab Friday challenge.  This week we have a fab sketch challenge for you:

I needed to add to my stash of sympathy cards, so I pulled out my Blooming with Kindness set.  I had made some First Edition dsp covered with gesso a couple of months ago, and  had some left over (here’s the post where I used it last).  So I used some of it for this card.  I love how it mutes the newsprint so you can stamp on it and have a more subtle newsprint look.  I took my color cues from the colors in the Print Poetry dsp stack.

A Fall Bloom

Ok, I have to say I’ve kinda gotten addicted to the weekly sketch challenges over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.   Now I haven’t been playing along but for a few weeks since I found it, but every week I like the sketch.  It seems to always fit with my style.  So here’s the sketch for this week:

I haven’t really used the Comfort Cafe designer series paper yet, so I broke into it and decided to use it today.  I went with the Fall colors.  I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I use Pool Party A LOT.  It has really become my favorite “neutral” color because it goes so well with everything and it’s so cheerful.  I don’t even want to think about it retiring in a few months!

So here’s my card:

Enjoy your weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  Blooming with Kindness, Sweet Essentials
Ink:  Cajun Craze, Pool Party

Blooming with Kindness

When the new catalog came out in June, one of the first sets I had to have was the Blooming with Kindness set.    Today is the first time it has seen ink.  How sad!  When I saw the sketch challenge for the week at Retrosketches, I knew I needed to pull this set out.

I ended up going with a shabby/chic look for this card, which isn’t my usual style.  I just love the flower in this set, and the sentiments are beautiful too.

I really like this color scheme, which is drawn straight from the Fan Fair color palette.
