A Christmas Card for the Birds — FabFri31

It’s another Fab Friday!  And we have a great sketch challenge for you this time around.

I always forget that the For the Birds stamp set has a cute Christmas stamp.  So I pulled it out for this card.

Merry Little Christmas, Big Bow

I thought I’d play along with the color challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary.

CCMC276

I love these colors together!  I decided to make a Christmas card, and I’ve barely used any of the Cherry Cobbler 1″ Stitched Edge Grosgrain Ribbon, so I knew I wanted to use it on this card.  But I guess that means I didn’t exactly follow the color challenge, so if I don’t qualify that’s ok.  The challenge colors were my inspiration, and I just got sidetracked a little.  But that’s one of the great things about challenges — they should serve as a tool to spark your creativity.

Snowflakes and Sequins — FMS111

It’s Wednesday again!  And that means it’s time for another sketch challenge at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  The supremely talented and the one with great wit, Linda Callahan, has a good one for us too:

I still had the Festive Flurry stamps and dies on my desk, so I decided to use them again since they seemed to be perfect for this sketch.

Snowflake SequinsI added a few fun sequins.  And I have to confess that I struggle a little with sequins because I never know when to stop.  I’ll start out with three, and then before I know it I have eight!

Go check out what the other designers have for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  And then play along with us and add your card to the gallery.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Festive Flurry, Sweet Essentials
Ink:  Versamark
Paper:  Whisper White, Pool Party, Silver Glimmer Paper, Winter Frost Specialty dsp
Embellishments:  Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, Festive Flurry Framelits, Frosted Finishes Embellishments, Silver and White Stampin’ Emboss Powders, sequins (non-SU)

A Square Snowflake Card

Square SnowflakeI was playing with the Festive Flurry framelits and stamps and decided to try something a little different.  I used the framelit on the dsp and then embossed a square of white card stock with silver embossing powder and put that behind the dsp.  I probably should have popped up the dsp on the white card stock, but didn’t think about that until after I’d already adhered it down.  I hate it when that happens!

Enjoy your Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

I Love Pink and Gold — Monday Montage #6

Monday Montage Banner -- October

We have another Monday Montage Blog Hop in store for you this evening!  I hope you’ll follow along the blog hop trail and see what all of the designers have made.

I have made a new discovery — I love pink and gold together!  I made a couple of Christmas cards using these two colors together and I threw Coastal Cabana into the mix too for a nice contrast color.

Snowflake WishesI love the look of gold embossing, and used that on both of the snowflakes.  I also threw in some sequins.

Another discovery I made is that pink and gold do not photograph well together on my camera.  Here’s a picture of my other card.  Please forgive the terrible picture.  It looks so much better in real life.

pink and gold star card copyThe pink that I used on both cards is Blushing Bride — I love that pink!

Well, you’re ready to hop on over to Breelin Renwick’s fantastic blog.  If you’d rather work your way backwards (you, rebel!) you can do that too and hop on over to Wendy Weixler’s amazing blog.  Either way, just work your way through the nine other blogs to see the treats they have in store for you.

Washi and Bling

Here’s a super simple Christmas card for you today.

Washi and Bling

I used some of the Season of Style Designer Washi Tape on the top and bottom of the card base, and stamped the sentiment from Joy to the World.  I made a little triple bow and added one of the Frosted Finishes Embellishments and some Rhinestone Basic Jewels.  Easy-peasy!

Enjoy your Saturday!  I get to watch my youngest celebrate her 9th birthday with five other girls as they go to a local stable and go horseback riding.  Very fun!  Thanks for stopping by!

Gold Snowflake Joy

I wanted to play with the Festive Flurry bundle, and I really wanted to use the color combination of red, white and gold, but I couldn’t decide whether I should use the gold embossing powder on the snowflakes or the pretty gold glitter.  So I used both.

Gold Snowflake JoyI added a little strip of the gold foil sheets under the dsp.  I love the effect that adds.  I also dipped the Frosted Finishes Embellishment in Versamark and then embossed it with the Gold Stampin’ Emboss powder.  That was easy and it gave the embellishment such a different look.

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Polka Dot Christmas Wishes

I love polka dots.  So it should be no surprise that I love the Season of Style dsp collection.  There are a three great polka dots patterns in there.

Polka Dot WishesThis was an easy card to put together.  I used the Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss powder for the sentiment.  I love that special touch.
