Ho Cubed — FMS109

It’s Wednesday, and that means a new sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches! And this week, Jen Mitchell, who makes such beautiful CAS cards has a fun one for us:

I almost feel like I cheated on this challenge.  Stampin’ Up! has these cute little tags in the Holiday catalog called the Season of Style Designer Journaling Tags.  I think they’re really made for scrapbooking, but they look so cute on cards too.  I stamped the Ho cubed and punched it out with a circle punch, and that was all of the stamping on this card.  See what I mean about cheating?

Ho Cubed FinalYou can check out what the other designers made for this challenge over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  I hope you’ll be able to find the time to join us and share your creation in the gallery!  We’d love to see it.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Winter Frost Sparkle –FMS106

I’m excited!  I get to host the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Here’s the sketch:

I just got the Festive Flurry bundle yesterday (resistance was futile), so I decided to break it out and use the snowflake die for the circle shape in the sketch.

Sparkly Merry 2

I hope you’ll join us for this challenge.  You can check out what the other designers made at the Freshly Made Sketches site here.

In other news, my Mother-in-Law is getting out of the hospital tomorrow.  She is slowly recovering from her broken hip.  My brother-in-law from New York is staying with her this next week, so she’ll have someone with her.  I tell you, a broken hip looks like a very painful injury — wouldn’t wish it on anyone!  We bought a new (used) car yesterday to replace the one my husband totaled in his accident on the way to the hospital for my MIL’s surgery last week.  It’s nice to have that off my plate — shopping for a car takes a lot of time.  I’m ready to have some regular time for stamping again!

Poinsettia Joy — FMS104

Are you ready for another sketch challenge from the Freshly Made Sketches team?  Well, Linda Suarez, who always makes amazing CAS cards, is our hostess this week and has this sketch for us to use:

When I saw the Joyful Christmas set in the holiday catalog, I knew I had to get it.  I love poinsettias at Christmas-time.  I always buy several to decorate my house, and they just say Christmas to me.  I turned the sketch on its side and used stamps from this set for my card.

Joyful PointsettiaI embossed the poinsettia with Cherry Cobbler and Wild Wasabi embossing powder, and then colored the petals and leaves with a blender pen.

You can check out what the other designers made with the sketch at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  We’ve got a wide variety of projects for you this time.  I hope you’ll be able to make the time to join us this week.

Merry in Gold — Monday Montage #1

mondaymontageheader

Welcome to our first Monday Montage!  We had so much fun doing the Artisan Finalist Blog Hop that we decided we should get together a couple times a month and do more blog hops.  So the ten of us who were finalists for Stampin’ Up’s Artisan Award, but not chosen for the design team, will be showing you various projects together.

One of the products in the Holiday catalog that I couldn’t wait to try was the Expressions Thinlits Dies.  So I used them to make this Christmas card:

Merry BannersI also used the new Gold Foil Sheets to cut out the “Merry”.  Isn’t that stuff beautiful!

I hope you’ll continue on the blog hop and go check out Breelin Renwick’s  beautiful creation.  You can also work your way backwards by starting with the talented Wendy Weixler’s blog.  Either way, just make sure you work your way fully around the blog hop circle.

Christmas in July — A Sneak Peek

One of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is that we not only get to see the new products in upcoming catalogs early, but we also get to order them early and play with them early.

So when I saw that the Paper Players had this challenge this week, I knew exactly what I wanted to make.

One of the sets at the top of my list in the upcoming Holidays catalog is the A Banner Christmas set.  It has such fun images.  I used two of them on my card.

Christmas in July

The card size is 6-1/2″ X 3-1/4″.  It fits in the Open End envelopes that Stampin’ Up! used to sell.

Enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  A Banner Christmas

Paper:  Real Red, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White

A Framed Newsprint Noel

I can tell I’m ready to move on from Christmas cards.  I sat and stared at my Christmas-themed papers today, and couldn’t find any that I wanted to use. So I reached for an old favorite — First Edition (newsprint) and decided to pair it with the Lucky Limeade dsp stack (polka dots).  And now that I’m addicted to Pool Party once again, I reached for it too.

A Framed Newsprint Noel

I stamped the holly from Watercolor Winter and then embossed the sentiment with black embossing powder over it.  I even pulled out my little sewing machine for this one.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!
