Country Flowers — FMS683

There’s a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches, and it comes to us via Jennifer Timko, our favorite stamping pilot. Take a look at what she has for us:

When the Country Flowers bundle came out last year, it was my favorite new set in the annual catalog. I pre-ordered it and I still love it! Now it’s on the Last Chance List, and I’m not ready to say goodbye. So here is one final ode to Country Flowers.

Not only do I love the stamps, which are so fun to color, and dies in this bundle, but I also love the coordinating dsp, Country Lace. I used two different patterns of it for the two panels in the sketch. I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set and cut it out with a die from the Autumn Leaves collection.

I used the Mini Corrugated 3-D embossing folder on the card base to add a little texture and decided to forgo any embellishments. My sentiment placement was not in keeping with the sketch. Sigh…I just couldn’t make it work.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

A Pocketful of Posies — FMS681

There’s a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches, and it’s my turn to serve as the hostess. The sketch is pretty simple, and of course you can use another shape for the focal image if you’d like. Here it is:

I kept very true to the sketch this week, and used some of the pretty flowers from the Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP collection to make a Mother’s Day card.

I cut the little stitched pocket using a die from the Birthday Celebration Dies and placed it on some Misty Moonlight card stock. I used a new die, the Pattern of Friendship die, to add some interest to the background panel. It is available in the online store, and it is going to stay on my desk for a while as I think I really like it.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Delightful Pink Wishes — FMS680

It’s time for another sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and it comes to us all the way from Australia courtesy of Narelle Farrugia, who always makes gorgeous cards! Take a look at what she has designed for us this week:

This sketch made me think of the Delightful Wishes stamp set right away. So why fight it?

I started by stamping the flowers with Pretty in Pink (a current In-Color) and Strawberry Slush (a returning In-Color that will be available with the new catalog next month). I love how these pinks pair together! The leaves were stamped with Old Olive ink, and they were cut out with the coordinating die-cuts.

A piece of gingham paper from the Floral & Gingham Vellum Specialty DSP was placed on the card base. The sentiment is also from the Delightful Wishes stamp set. I added some Strawberry Slush Gems that will be available next month.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Easter Blessings — FMS679

There’s a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches, and it comes to us all the way from New Zealand courtesy of our friend, Karren Johnson, who does amazing things with ink. Take a look at what she has for us:

I thought the Storybook Moments dsp would be perfect for an Easter card, so I decided to go that route with my card.

I dug out some old, retired items for this card. The sentiment is from an old Paper Pumpkin set. Some old baker’s twine, a circle die and an embossing folder were all dusted off and put into use again.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Mixed Florals — FMS678

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us from our French friend, Cecile Ribon, who is the queen of die-cuts. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I have been wanting to ink up the Mixed Florals stamp set and do a little coloring. This sketch seemed like the perfect opportunity!

I stamped the image and colored it with alcohol markers. The sentiment is a sticker from the coordinating Mixed Media Florals Memories & More Card Pack. Pretty easy!

Wildflower Birthday — FMS676

There’s a new sketch up at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and it comes to us from the great Rocky Mountain state of Colorado, courtesy of our talented friend, Kim Singdahlsen. Kim has an amazing eye for detail and always inspires me with the thought that goes into how she personalizes her cards for their recipients. Take a look at her great sketch for the week:

The Wildflower Birthday suite has been my go-to suite out of the mini-catalog. I just love the sweet flowers and pretty colors with the touches of gold. So naturally, that is where my first thoughts went when I saw the sketch.

I started with a sheet of the Wildflower dsp for the background, and then used some of the die-cuts to decorate the card. The sentiment was stamped using the Birthday Celebration set, and embossed with gold embossing powder. Some Party Dots and a white baker’s twine bow were added as embellishments.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Sweet as Honey — FMS675

There’s a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess, the always fun and talented Linda Callahan, has a good one for us. Take a look:

This one was definitely a challenge for me! Just deciding on which stamp set to use with the sketch was the biggest challenge. I ended up pulling Bee My Valentine off the shelf, thinking the trails could represent the three narrow rectangles.

I started by blending some Balmy Blue ink on a piece of white card stock. I then stamped the bees and punched them out with their coordinating punch.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Delightful Birthday Wishes -FMS673

There’s a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches, and it comes to us from our pilot and card-making friend, Jennifer Timko. Take a look at what she has for us:

I love the new Delightful Wishes stamp set and coordinating dies, and I thought they would be perfect for this sketch.

I stamped the pretty blooms with Bubble Bath and Fresh Freesia inks and cut them out with the coordinating dies. The focal circle is cut from some of the Floral Delight dsp using a die from the Spotlight on Nature dies. The background paper on the card base is a piece of vellum paper from the Floral & Gingham collection.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

A Piece of Cake — FMS672

There’s a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us via the amazing Jacquie Southas. Take a look at what she has created for us:

When I first saw this sketch, I knew immediately that I wanted to use the die-cut banner in the Wildflower Birthday dsp collection.

This card was truly a piece of cake! I punched out the banner and the piece of cake and added them to the card front after blending some Peach Pie ink under the cake.

The sentiment is from the Simply Said stamp set, and was inked with Misty Moonlight ink. I added a few Party Dots as an embellishment and I was finished.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Five-Star Book Love — FMS671

There’s a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and it comes to us via our creative card-making friend in Nebraska, Judy Rozema. Take a look at her sketch:

This sketch had me stumped! I ended up taking some creative liberties, but hopefully the sketch is still evident when looking at my card.

I’ve been wanting to use the new For the Books stamp set, and thought I could make the three scalloped lines in the sketch be book shelves. Upon finishing the card, I realized I didn’t address the change between the top half of the sketch and the bottom. Sigh…

I cut thin strips of Pecan Pie card stock for the shelves, and then stamped and colored the books.

I don’t give many books a five-star review. Looking back through recent books I’ve read, I’d say Babylonia by Costanza Casati and Eleanore of Avignon by Elizabeth DeLozier were both five-star worthy books. I love historical fiction. Do you have any recent five-star worthy books you could recommend? If so, I’d love to hear what they are!

I would also love it if you would join us and create your own card using the sketch for the week and add it to the gallery. Be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!
