Farewell Falling Flowers — FMS387

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite French paper crafter, Cecile Ribon, is our hostess.  She has a fun sketch for us.  Take a peek:

I’m trying to use some of my favorite retiring stamp sets this month before they are gone forever.  I love the Falling Flowers set and coordinating dies and thought they would work perfectly with the sketch.

I started this card by cutting three little pennants from Nature’s Poem dsp.  I then stamped the stem and leaves with Mossy Meadow ink and the flower in Calypso Coral ink.  I used markers to color them.

The sentiment was cut from Mossy Meadow card stock using the Well Written Framelits dies.  The “with” is from a random stamp set I found.  Why the Well Said stamp set doesn’t include that word is beyond me.  I added some Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots as embellishments and called it a day.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has whipped up for your inspiration.

Mother’s Day Tea — FMS386

Well, here it is — May.  And to welcome this new month, we have a new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is the amazing Jen Brum, our Canadian bestie, and she has a great one for us.  Take a look:

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I thought I should make another card for the occasion.  I wanted to use the pretty set, called Tea Together.  I love the Tea Room specialty dsp and knew it would be perfect with the sketch.

I almost had a mono-chromatic card, but I just couldn’t stand it.  I wanted that flower to have another color.  I probably should have added some pink elsewhere on the card but I ran out of time.  I may have to add some before I send it in the mail.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Tropical Thanks — FMS385

Well it’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite Coloradan, Kim Singdahlsen, has a fun sketch for us.  Take a peek:

Now that the retirement list has been posted, I tend to get a little nostalgic about sets that will be leaving us.   It makes me want to use them all one last time.  The Tropical Chic bundle is on the list and I hadn’t used it in a long time, so I decided to dust it off.  After I finished the card though, I noticed that it isn’t really retiring.  It’s just being improved to cling-mount.  This switch really makes the whole retirement list thing extra confusing.

I started by inking the focal leaf with Pear Pizzazz ink, stamping off once, and then sponging on some Granny Apple Green ink in the center.  I die-cut this image and the two background leaves from Call Me Clover card stock.

The dsp is from the Tropical Escape dsp pack.  Some Happiness Blooms enamel dots and linen thread were added as embellishments.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  Meanwhile be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site and see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Mother Duck — FMS384

It’s already time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! The time is truly flying. My daughter is graduating next month, and she has a countdown clock on her phone. Every time I look at it, I am amazed at how quickly time is passing. I want to hack into her phone and slow that darn clock down. But I know that won’t work. Besides, I’m not technologically savvy enough to do that. Our good friend Linda, is our hostess this week. Not only does she make fabulous cards, but she is witty and fun, and she has a great sketch for us this week. Take a peek:

When I saw the focal panel, I immediately thought of the cute little ducks in the Fable Friends set.  I stamped the images on watercolor paper and used my aqua painter to color the scene with my ink pads.  Once I went to cut it out, I realized it was a little larger than I anticipated and that it wouldn’t work with the sketch.  So I decided to flip the orientation.  Yeah, it was one of those days.

As I was coloring this scene, I kept thinking how this is one lucky duck — her children are following along right behind her.  Two of my three ducks are wandering off in their own direction, as my oldest is several hours away at college and my middle child is about to graduate and go even farther away to school.  I guess even ducklings grow up and fly away.  I’m glad there are airplanes so I can fly and go see my ducklings.

Hooray Hat — FMS383

We have a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches today, and we have a great one for you provided by our friend, Jen Mitchell.  Take a peek:

I was playing around with the Birthday Cheer stamp set and colored one of the party hats, thinking I could substitute it for the square focal image.  I colored it with markers.  I went with a color combo of Pool Party, Mango Melody, and Poppy Parade.

The star dsp is from the Twinkle Twinkle dsp pack.  The sentiment was embossed with black embossing powder.  I need to start working on graduation cards, and I thought this sentiment would work well for that occasion too.

A Squirrelly Sailor — FMS382

It’s time for another sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our very talented friend, Jennifer Timko, is our hostess.  She has a sketch for us that should work with almost every style.  Take a look:

I’ve been working on some Easter projects and have been using the Fable Friends stamp set.  I knew it would be so fun to color with it.  When I sat down to make a card with this sketch, I thought I’d use an image from this stamp set that hadn’t seen ink yet for me.

I started by stamping this cute fella on watercolor paper, and then used an aquapainter and my ink pads to color him.  I hadn’t water colored in a long time because I’ve been using my markers so much lately.  I’d forgotten how fun it is to watercolor.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Perfectly Paired Congratulations — FMS381

We have one last sketch for your month of March over at Freshly Made Sketches this morning.  And this week, another of our new team members, Lee Ann Barrett, has a clean and classic sketch for us.  Take a look:

One of the stamp sets I fell in love with in the Occasions catalog is the Perfectly Paired stamp set.  I knew it would be so fun to color, and the image is adorable.  I don’t have the need for baby cards very often at all, but it’s always good to have a set on hand just in case, right?

This card was coloring therapy for me.  I love how each animal is small and easy to color, and just look at all of the opportunities you have to use many colors.  I think I used just about all of my markers!

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to see what you make!  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.
