Three Flowers Squared — PP 137

It’s Sunday, and that means it’s time for another fun challenge at the Paper Players.  And this week, Ann has a great CAS sketch challenge for us:

Since this week is the last week of Sale-A-Bration, I wanted to use one of the Sale-a-Bration sets.  I chose Bloomin’ Marvelous because I haven’t used it enough and I thought the flowers would fit nicely in the little squares on the sketch.

I chose this happy color scheme of Pumpkin Pie, Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise, Gumball Green, and Crumb Cake for the card.  I love these colors together.

Come on over to the Paper Players and join us in this week’s challenge.  We’d love to see how you interpret the sketch.  Meanwhile, check out what the other designers made:

Quintessential Flower for a Friend — PP136

I hope you’re ready for a color challenge today because Nance has a great one for us this week at the Paper Players:

I hadn’t used Regal Rose in so long, and it’s such a pretty color.  I decided to use the Quintessential Flower stamp because it has been sitting neglected on my stamp shelf.

A Flower of Many Textures — PP135

LeAnne has a fun challenge for us this week at the Paper Players that involves “stitches.”  I love how she left room for those who really dislike sewing — your card could be one that leaves us in stitches.

I must say that I was stumped by this one for quite a while.  I like sewing on a card, but I usually just limit that to sewing around the outside edges.  I wanted to do a little more with this challenge.  I finally decided on sewing some stitches on the felt flower petals that I cut with a die.  I used some linen thread for my stitches.

I also wanted to cut a flower layer using some burlap material I bought a while ago for this purpose.  My first attempt months ago didn’t go so well — I couldn’t keep the burlap from making a complete mess because it unravels so easily.  I had tried to make a rolled flower that time, so this time I decided to just die cut a flower layer.  It worked better, but it’s still unraveling.  Any tips or suggestions?

Blue Creped Flower — PP134

Are you ready for another sketch challenge at the Paper Players today?  Well, Jaydee has a good one for us.

I wanted to play with the creped filter paper that Stampin’ Up! has in the Spring catalog some more.  When I attended the Dallas regional last weekend, someone shared a great tip on how to use it with a punch.  Rather than just punching the creped paper with the punch, you need to add a piece of card stock behind the creped paper before punching.  It adds a little stability and will allow the paper to punch cleanly.  You can even punch through multiple layers at once.  You don’t have to add the card stock with a die — just with a punch.

For the flower, I punched eight layers of the creped paper and then used a sponge dauber and Midnight Muse ink to dye the flower.  Once dry, I scrunched up the layers and pierced a brad through the center, and then covered the brad with a punched circle and resin dahlia.

I hope you can find time to join in and participate in the challenge this week.  Here are links to the other designers, so you can see how they interpreted the sketch.

A Baby Card — PP 133

It’s time for a CAS challenge at the Paper Players this week.  Anne Marie has chosen a fun one.

I was afraid I was going to be in a bit of trouble with this challenge, as I don’t own a single baby-themed stamp set.  I know — it’s shocking, especially when one considers how many stamp sets I have. 🙂  But fortunately, there was a baby themed sentiment in the Ciao, Baby! set (misleading name — this is the only “baby” stamp in the set).

Oh, Baby -- PP133

I know this is an unusual color combination for a baby card, but I love these colors together.  I got the combo from the Color Coach (love that thing).  Here’s a closer view of the smashed bottle cap:

Thinking of You In Color — PP132

Ann has a color challenge for us this week at the Paper Players, and it features three of the newest In Colors.  I’ll confess that I kinda struggled with this color combo a bit.  I couldn’t decide which direction to take.  I thought the first two would be good for a more masculine card, but then what to do with the  pink?  So in the end, I kinda compromised.

A Sympathetic Eleanor — PP131

It’s time for a theme challenge at the Paper Players this week.

They aren’t my favorite card to make (and definitely not to send), but it’s always great to have sympathy cards on hand because we all need to send them from time to time.  So join us in this challenge and make a sympathy card for your stash.

I pulled out a stamp set that I haven’t been giving enough love, Everything Eleanor.  I think this set is so pretty and I really should use it more.  I colored the flower with my markers and a blender pen.

I hope you can find some time to join us in this challenge at the Paper Players.    Check out what the other designers created here:

A Vintage Bicycle Celebration — PP130

It’s Sunday, and that means it’s time for another challenge from the Paper Players.  LeAnne has a great sketch for us this week.

I love this sketch because you could keep it clean and simple or you could add layers and embellishments and knock yourself out.  I kinda went with the first option this time — pretty simple.

Vintage Bicycle Celebration

I used the Feeling Sentimental stamp set, which is one of the Sale-a-Bration offerings.  I really love all of the stamps in this set.  I also used some Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz on the houndstooth base.  I hadn’t pulled that out in a while, and I’m not sure why.  It adds such a pretty shimmer to a project.

I hope you enjoy your Sunday, and that you can find some time to join us at the Paper Players this week.  Here are links to the other designers so you can see what they did with the sketch and get some inspiration:

Pop-Up Posies CAS card–PP129

It’s Sunday, and that means it’s time for another challenge at the Paper Players.  Our challenge this week is a sketch challenge from Jaydee, and it’s one for all of us CAS (clean and simple) fans:

I am really loving the new Pop-Up Posies Designer Kits in the new Spring catalog.  All of the work is done for you — no punching or die-cutting out of flowers, and it comes with these adorable Crumb Cake labels that are already embossed for you.  Plus it comes with some beautiful fabric covered brads.  It also comes with its own stamp set, but I didn’t use that on this card.

Pop-Up Posie -- PP128

The color combination in this kit is Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Summer Starfruit and Crumb Cake, and I have to say I am loving it!  It is so spring-like and cheery!

Here’s a closer look at the flower and brad:

A Birthday Elephant — PP128

Our challenge this week at the Paper Players is a fun color challenge from Anne Marie.

Now, I haven’t used the You’re Amazing set in a while, and I’ve missed it.  So I had to pull the elephant stamp out when I saw that gray was one of the colors included in the challenge.  I hope you love this stamp set as much as I do because I know I use it a lot.  🙂
