Countryside Inn Flower — FMS595

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week is my turn to assume the hostess duties. Here is the sketch :

I thought this was the perfect opportunity to use two products that I hadn’t touched yet — the Countryside Inn dsp and the Paper Florist Dies.

I die-cut the flower pieces from white card stock and added a touch of Balmy Blue ink with a sponge dauber. The leaves were cut from Misty Moonlight card stock.

The sentiment from Layering Leaves was embossed with white embossing powder.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Textured Floral Heart — FMS594

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our favorite fussy-cutting, collage-making, stamper extraordinaire, Narelle Farrugia. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I recently got the Textured Floral Bundle, and I knew I could make it work with this sketch. I ended up adding a lot of things to the sketch (leaves for the three flowers), but hopefully the sketch can still be seen.

I started out by scoring two parallel lines on the card base to represent the horizontal strip on this sketch. You have to look really hard to see them on my card as I almost covered them up entirely. I was supposed to put a thin strip of dsp there, but didn’t remember that until after I had glued all of the flowers down and I really didn’t want to start over. Sigh…

I stamped the flowers in Petal Pink, Pumpkin Pie, and Calypso Coral ink and the leaves in Old Olive and Soft Sea Foam inks. The flower centers were stamped with Crushed Curry ink. I added some Iridescent Pearls for embellishments.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

A Milkshake Celebration — FMS593

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our talented Kiwi friend, Karren Johnson, has a great sketch for us. Take a look:

My dad celebrated his birthday yesterday, and I used the sketch to make his birthday card. I used the Share a Milkshake stamp set because he does like ice cream and an ice cream celebration sounds perfect for a July birthday.

I stamped the image using Lemon Lolly and Daffodil Delight inks for the glass; Bubble Bath, Lost Lagoon, and Berry Burst inks for the ice cream. I used a sheet of Bright & Beautiful dsp for the strips on the sides of the card.

I did use a little creative license by moving the sentiment from what is shown in the sketch. But it didn’t look right on top of the ice cream.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Bird’s Eye Note — FMS592

We may be in the sweltering throes of Summer (at least in Texas, we are), but don’t worry — we have a cool new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches. It comes to us via France and our favorite die-cutting, card-making friend, Cecile Ribon, has a fun sketch for us. Take a look:

I really wanted to make another card with the sweet Bird’s Eye View stamp set, and I was determined to make it work with this sketch. So I used some Lemon Lolly and Crushed Curry inks to blend a sun on the card base, and then cut out some images from the stamp set to substitute something for the sailboat shape in the sketch.

Other than adding a sentiment from the Happy Labels stamp set, I kept this one very simple. I lightly blended some Balmy blue ink around the sun to add a little color and colored the bird, branch and leaves with some alcohol markers.

This was a quick and easy card to make!

Guac Birthday — FMS591

We’re back with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our Canadian bear-loving, mountain hiking, and card making friend, Jen Brum. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I will be in need of some masculine birthday cards next month, so I decided to get a head start on one. Punny cards are often good for the guys, so I pulled out the cute Taco Fiesta stamp set, which has a birthday sentiment.

I started with a card base of Parakeet Party card stock and then cut out the pieces of patterned paper from the Zoo Crew dsp pack.

I stamped the cute images and sentiment from the Taco Fiesta stamp set and colored them with some alcohol markers and added some sequins for embellishment. Once I figured out how to cut out the paper, this was a quick and easy card!

Bird’s Eye Birthday — FMS590

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our sketch comes from the Rocky Mountain state of Kim Singdahlsen, our fabulous hostess this week. Take a look at her fun sketch:

Kim always makes such thoughtful cards, putting little touches into each creation just for the recipient. I needed to make a birthday card for my mom, so I channeled a little of Kim’s magic to create a card with a book theme as my mom loves to read. I used books for the three strips in the sketch and this adorable bird from the Bird’s Eye View stamp set, which is one of my faves in the new annual catalog.

I colored the images with my alcohol markers and then cut them out with my paper snips. The sentiment is from an old Paper Pumpkin stamp set.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has made for your inspiration.

A Loved Verse — FMS589

There’s a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the delightful Linda Callahan. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I recently acquired the new Courage & Faith stamp set and knew it could work with the sketch (if you just squint at it rather quickly). 🙂 This stamp set contains one of my favorite Bible verses, Proverbs 3:5. I have come to rely on this verse so many times, in good times and bad. The stamp only shares a part of the verse. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

I chose to use a color scheme of Boho Blue, Old Olive, and Petal Pink. I used some old baker’s twine I found in my stash, which is not Petal Pink but blends in ok.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Wonderful Hippo — FMS588

There’s a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches brought to us by the fabulous Jen Mitchell. Take a look at her fun sketch:

That diagonal panel threw me for a loop. So I kinda cheated and decided to to just use a layer of vellum on my card for it.

I used the Zoo Crew suite collection for this one. The hippo was cut out with my paper snips from the coordinating dsp. Another sheet of the Zoo Crew DSP was used for the base layer.

I used a frame from the Fabulous Frames Dies collection to cut out the sweet frame for this sweet hippo. Some little Petal Pink flowers were cut out with the coordinating Zany Zoo dies. The sentiment is from the Zany Zoo stamp set.

Grateful for Flora (and graduation, and trips…) — FMS587

It’s been a while since I’ve stamped or posted anything here. With my daughter’s college graduation in Michigan and a family trip to Europe, the past few weeks have been a blur. It was fun celebrating graduation with her and her boyfriend (I finally got to meet him in person, and we all love him and his family).

The week after her graduation, we flew to Spain and spent a couple of days in Madrid and Barcelona before getting on a ship to cruise around the Mediterranean. We made a stop in Spain (Palma de Mallorca), a stop in France (Marseilles), and three stops in Italy (Cinque Terre/Florence, Rome, and Naples/Amalfi Coast/Pompeii). It was definitely a trip of a lifetime for us, and spending it together as a family made it even better.

But now it’s back to the real world and fortunately it’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. Our hostess this week is my favorite pilot and stamper extraordinaire, Jennifer Timko. I wish she had been the pilot on our long flight! That would have been fun! Take a look at her fabulous sketch for the week:

I wanted to make a thank you card for my parents, who so very kindly came and stayed in our home while we were gone and took care of our two dogs. When I saw Jennifer’s sketch, I thought flowers would work for the three circles in the sketch.

The Two-Tone Flora set has a gorgeous coordinating set of dies, that includes this detailed background die. I stamped the flowers and leaves and cut them out with some of the other dies in the set.

The sentiment is from the Full of Love stamp set. I cut it out by hand, and placed it over some white baker’s twine.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Zany Gator Birthday — FMS582

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes from our talented New Zealander friend, Karren Johnson. Take a look at this great sketch:

I got a new stamp set in the pre-order for the upcoming annual catalog called Zany Zoo. It is a cute set and comes with fun dsp too. I thought it would be perfect to use with this sketch.

I stamped the sweet gator and colored him with my alcohol markers and then cut out the image with the coordinating dies. There are some cute trees and flowers in the die package as well, so I added them to create a little scene. I used a black Stampin’ Write marker to draw in some grass and bumps on the road.

I added a little strip of the coordinating dsp and cut out the little banner for the sentiment using the same dies. What a fun suite of products!
