Reindeer Cheer — FMS659

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and it is my turn to play the role of hostess. I always love a clean collage, so I went that route when designing the sketch for the week. Here’s what I came up with:

Even though the sketch is a collage of circles, any shapes are good. I ended up with a loose interpretation of the sketch, but creativity is what makes these challenges fun, right?

I started with the adorable Reindeer Fun dies and cut out the layers for this cute reindeer and the wreath and its bow. This little guy is so easy to put together!

I cut the presents out of some of the Take a Bow dsp collection and added some twine bows. Some Real Red & White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints were added as embellishments. The sentiment is from the coordinating Reindeer Fun stamp set, and was embossed with red embossing powder.

Snowman Tag — FMS657

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it come to us via our ink-blending and coloring pro from New Zealand, Karren Johnson. Take a look at what she has for us:

I thought this tag would be perfect for some of the Joyful Images Mix & Match Specialty Ephemera. The hardest part of this card was deciding which image to use.

The snowman was the winner as I thought the slanted panels in the sketch could be viewed as a snowdrift. So I left the bottom panel white and cut a piece of dsp from the Nests of Winter dsp collection for the top half of the card base.

I added some White Loose Snowflakes and a sentiment from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. Some fun Pool Party Pompom Ribbon and some Real Red and White Baker’s Twine finish off the tag.

This sketch made me think of the gorgeous Nests of Winter suite collection, so I cut out some of the birds from a sheet of the coordinating dsp and arranged them on another piece of the dsp from the same collection.

I love the sweet birds in this dsp. I selected a sentiment from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack to finish the card.

Snowy Wonder Cabins — FMS655

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes courtesy of our favorite Canadian stamper/mountain hiker, Jen Brum. Take a look at her unique sketch:

I had been itching to play with the new Snowy Wonder bundle from the holiday mini catalog, and I thought the sizes of the images would work well with the sketch.

I stamped the trees and cabins with Garden Green, Misty Moonlight, and Real Red inks and cut them out with the coordinating dies. The sentiment banner is from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. I stamped some little snowflakes from the set using Pool Party ink.

Hedgehog Hugs — FMS654

There’s a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us courtesy of Jen Mitchell, our favorite Bay Stater. Take a look at what she has for us:

When I first saw the sketch, I immediately thought of Christmas trees. But when I examined my stamp shelf, I was surprised to find that I didn’t have a stamp set for this. What?!? I’ll have to fix that! But I did decide to use the Hearts & Hugs stamp set, and substitute these two cute little hedgehogs for the two isosceles triangles. I’m not really sure these critters are really hedgehogs, but that’s what I’m calling them.

I stamped and colored the image and then cut it out with my paper snips. I placed it on a piece of white card stock on which I blended some Balmy Blue ink and adhered a piece of dsp from the Nests of Winter collection.

Snowy Wonder — FMS653

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is all about the sentiment. A big sentiment. Our hostess, Kim Singdahlsen, has a fun sketch for us that focuses on a part of the card that is often an afterthought. Take a look:

I have a stack of new goodies on my desk and I knew that one of them would be perfect for this sketch. There are some new Christmas-themed ephemera packs in the holiday mini-catalog that I could not resist. One of the packs, the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack has lots of large and small sentiments.

I started by stamping the Falling Snow background stamp with Versamark ink and heating some white embossing powder on a piece of Night of Navy card stock. I love this background stamp, and know I’ll be using it a lot for Christmas cards. I cut out some holly leaves and berries using the Reindeer Fun dies, and placed them under the sentiment.

Faith Frame — FMS651

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us courtesy of Jen Timko, who has mad coloring skills. She has great sketching skills too – take a look:

When I saw the large oval in the sketch, I immediately thought of a wreath in the Frames & Flowers Specialty DSP.

I started with a Pretty Peacock card base and then cut out a strip of Petal Pink card stock to go under one side of a piece of the Frames & Flowers Specialty DSP. This dsp kit has some coordinating die-cut images, and I used three of those to assemble the floral wreath.

I used another piece of the dsp in the center of the wreath, and embossed a sentiment from the Courage & Faith stamp set on it. And that was it! An easy card!

Collection of Leaves — FMS650

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes for us from the very talented and lovely Judy Rozema. Take a look at what she has for us:

School has been back in session here for a couple of weeks now. I feel like that means it should be Fall, but in Texas we’re a long way away from that! But I can pretend and make Fall-themed cards!

I started by stamping the background stamp, Leaf Collection, three times — in Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Copper Clay. I then cut them into three strips and placed them on the card base.

I stamped the sentiment from Autumn Leaves with Copper Clay ink and cut it out with a die from the Spotlight on Nature die collection. I cut out some leaves from the Autumn Leaves die collection and arranged them around the sentiment, and added some Adhesive-Backed Speckled Dots and a linen thread bow as embellishments.

Hello, Ephemera — FMS649

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is my turn to assume the hostess duties. Want to see what the sketch looks like? Here it is:

When I drew up the sketch a few weeks ago, I had a card in mind, and it was one that used the exact shape of the focal image in the sketch. But I didn’t sit down and make the card then, and by the time I got around to it yesterday, I couldn’t remember what I originally had in mind. I needed to make something quickly, so I pulled out my ephemera packs and made an easy card.

I started with a Bubble Bath card base and framed it with a piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock. Then I added two different labels from the Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack and a flower bouquet from the Fully Flowering Ephemera pack. The little sentiment is from the Saying Something Ephemera Pack. I added some Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels as embellishments. Easy peasy!

Birthday Shopper — FMS648

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us from the land down under courtesy of our Artisan award winning Narelle Farrugia. Take a look at what she has for us:

I thought it would be fun to use some of the images from the Attention Shoppers stamp set for the three squares in the sketch.

I started by stamping the sentiment multiple times in different colored inks on the card base, and then colored the images with my alcohol markers and popped them up with dimensionals. I added some Rainbow Adhesive Backed Dots and ink splatters to the background.
