Pine Christmas Blessings — FMS317

Its’ time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week the fabulous Jen Mitchell is our hostess.  She has a fun square card for us.  Take a look:

I decided to use some dsp for the focal panel, and I love this sheet of pretty trees, which I hadn’t cut into yet.  It was time to confront my paper hoarding tendencies and use it.

I used two different sheets of dsp from two different collections.  The trees are from the Merry Little Christmas pack, and the sheet behind it is from the Merry Music pack.

I added some pine boughs from the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies, cut from Old Olive card stock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  A little bit of Black Metallic Thread was added as well.  The sentiment was stamped with black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder, and is from the Christmas Pines stamp set.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Fireworks & Love — FMS316

It’s time for another sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week the ever kind and fabulous Jennifer Timko is our hostess.  Take a look at this fun sketch that she has for us:

My husband and I just celebrated our 22nd anniversary last week and I used the sketch to make him a card to mark the occasion.  When I saw the sketch, I thought some dsp would work great for the large panel.  Flipping through my stash, I thought this sheet of specialty dsp with silver foil images reminded me of fireworks and celebrations.

I die-cut the sentiment from the Sunshine Wishes dies collection out of silver glimmer paper, and placed it on a piece of Night of Navy card stock.

I tried adding different embellishments, but kept eliminating them as I thought it really looked best without them and I wanted to keep the card more masculine.  I know it has glitter, but hey, it goes with the fireworks theme, right?

I found this sentiment in the Paisleys & Posies stamp set, and thought it was perfect for the occasion and works with the fireworks theme.  I embossed some little silver hearts from an old Paper Pumpkin stamp to add a little interest, and ran a piece of silver foil washi tape along the bottom.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love seeing what you make as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has whipped up for your inspiration.

A Plaid Noel — FMS#315

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is my turn to provide the sketch.  Of all my shaped dies, I find that I use ovals the least.  I’m not sure why that is because I love how they look, but I think I just forget about them.  So in order to give them a little love, they are the focal shape in the sketch this week.

I knew I wanted a large sentiment to be the focal image in the oval, so I reached for one in the Christmas Pines stamp set.  It is paired with some plaid paper from Merry Little Christmas.  I love this paper, and I love how it makes the red sentiment stand out even more.

Some Lemon Lime Twist greenery and Red Glimmer Paper berries were die-cut using the Pretty Pines thinlits dies.  Some rhinestone basic jewels were colored with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends marker.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to look through the gallery and see how you use the sketch each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

A Happy Bird Hello — Monday Montage #105

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of nine stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

I wanted to play a little with the Color Me Happy stamp set, which has some great, easy images to color.

I started by stamping the floral image randomly around where I wanted to place the focal image.  I used Powder Pink ink on the same color of card stock.   I then cut out two stitched shapes squares — one from Night of Navy card stock and the other from vellum.  The sweet little bird was stamped on Thick Whisper White card stock with Memento black ink and colored with the Stampin’ Blends markers.

Some navy enamel dots and pink sequins were added as embellishments, as well as some silver metallic thread.

Patterned Hugs — FMS314

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite stamper extraordinaire from the land down under, Narelle Farrugia, is our hostess.  She has a fabulous sketch for us too!  Take a peek:

I decided to take a little break from Christmas card stamping, and I thought the circles would be perfect to use with patterned paper.  So I reached for my favorite pack of dsp, Pick a Pattern.  I love the fun color combos in this pack, and of course the fun patterns.

Once I got everything cut out and arranged, I thought it was still missing something.  Using a stencil and adding some embossing paste is an easy way to add a little extra interest to a background.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Snowflake Greetings — FMS#313

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite and talented New Zealander, Karren Johnson, is our hostess.  Someday, I am going to make it to New Zealand!  And when I do, I really hope Karren will agree to give me coloring and technique lessons, as she is amazing!  Take a look at the fun sketch she has for us:

I’m continuing with my Christmas card journey, though I have stepped away from the Seasonal Lantern stamp set this week.  Those circles made me think of snowflakes, and then it was easy from there.

I went with an unusual color combo for snowflakes and Christmas, for that matter.  I cut the snowflakes from Powder Pink and Sweet Sugarplum card stock, and some more from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using dies from Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

The sentiment was embossed with silver embossing powder and cut out with a Stitched Shapes Framelit die.  It is from the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set.  Some fun sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment and sequin trim add a little shine.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love seeing what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches website to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Christmas Cheer Lantern — Monday Montage #104

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of nine stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been enjoying playing with the Seasonal Lantern bundle.  This bundle comes with a detailed die for the lantern and another die for the stamped lantern.  My last card used the detailed die and this card uses the stamped lantern image.

I paired the lantern with some dsp from the Merry Music collection and the Merry Little Christmas collection.  The sentiment was stamped on Basic Black card stock and embossed with white embossing powder.

A Lantern Full of Christmas Cheer — FMS

We have a new sketch for you today over at Freshly Made Sketches thanks to our favorite French design team member, Cecile Ribon.  Take a look at this fun sketch:

I’ve been playing with a new bundle, The Seasonal Lantern bundle, and thought it would work well with this sketch.  I have really enjoyed playing with this bundle.  It has fun stamps, which allow you to color (the Stampin’ Blends markers work great with this set) or you can use the stamps that come in the set to fill in the images.  Since I’ve been addicted to the Stampin’ Blends markers, I went that route with this card.

I started by die-cutting the lantern from a gold foil sheet.  There is one die that outlines the inside of the lantern, and that was cut from gold glimmer paper.  The other dies were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink  and colored with Stampin’ Blends markers.

I stamped one of the sentiments repeatedly on a piece of Pool Party card stock and added a piece of Merry Little Christmas dsp.  Half of a doily and some gold metallic thread were added as embellishments.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

A Helpful Elf — FMS311

We’re ready with a new sketch for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  And this week, our favorite Canadian, Jen Brum, is our hostess.  Jen has a gift for making clean and elegant work beautifully together.  Her sketch this week is a fun one!  Take a look:

I’ve been on a little bit of a roll with Christmas cards lately, and I really wanted to use a new stamp that I love so much and thought would work well with this sketch.  In my last post, I used a different stamp from this set, Festive Phrases.  But I think the elf stamp is my favorite.

I think this little guy is so cute!  And he’s very fun and easy to color, especially with the new Stampin’ Blends markers which you can now purchase.

I used some Merry Little Christmas dsp and a snowflake die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits dies.  Some silver Metallic Enamel Shapes were used for the little pom-poms on his hat and shoes.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch above.  We love to see what you create.  Meanwhile be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Merry & Bright Lights — FMS#310

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite Rocky Mountains stamper, Kim Singdahlsen, is our hostess.  Take a look at the fun sketch she has for us:

I pulled out a new stamp set, Festive Phrases, and some of the Quilted Christmas dsp and got to work.  I love all four of the images in this stamp set, and I think they all have fabulous fonts.

This card came together quickly.  I’ve been stuck on traditional Christmas colors lately, and continued that trend with this card (except for the little lights).

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to see what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.
