Lovely in Lace — FMS174

Happy Wednesday!  And with the arrival of Wednesday, we get a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week the most talented Cindy Lovell is our hostess, and she has a great sketch for us.

I have a stamp that I’ve been wanting to ink up but it just hasn’t fit any of the cards I ‘ve needed to make lately.  But now that birthdays in our house and Valentine’s Day are behind us, I can move on to other cards.

I love the look of clear embossing on Very Vanilla card stock.  When I first saw Something Lacy, I knew that I’d want to use this technique with it.  I love the detail on this stamp.

Lacy Happy Together

I paired this stamp with a flower made from the Typeset dsp using the Flower Frenzy Bigz die.  I also used some of the White Jute Ribbon and Sahara Sand Lace Trim.

We hope that you’ll love the sketch and decide to play along this week, as we love to see what you create.  You can check out what the design team did with the sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.

Bright and Clean Hello

simple helloHere’s a super simple card for you today, and no stamping.  I used some of the new Birthday Bash Designer Washi Sheets for the Bermuda Bay stripes.  I love how you can make washi tape in any size with these sheets.  The “hello” was cut out using the Hello You Thinlits, and the Calypso Coral was cut using one of the Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blades.

We’re celebrating another birthday in our house today.  My oldest turns sixteen.  It’s  a holiday today and there is no school.  That’s pretty cool when that happens on your birthday, huh?

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Bouquet of Kindness

bouquet of kindnessHappy Valentine’s Day!  My favorite kind of flowers for Valentine’s Day are tulips, which inspired me to pull out my Love is Kindness stamp, which is seeing ink for the first time.  I really loved coloring it as the image is pretty easy to color and there isn’t too much to color.

Lots of Hearts

Embossed HeartsHere’s a Valentine’s card I stuck in the mail yesterday.  I used the very cool Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing folder for the card base.  Then I stamped and punched three of the hearts from Groovy Love, and embossed the sentiment from last month’s My Paper Pumpkin kit.  I also punched out an arrow from the Gold Glimmer Paper using the What’s Up? punch.

Embossed Hearts Close UpThe little heart on the animal print heart is one of the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers, which I colored with one of my Blendabilities.  I added some crochet thread and gold sequins, and arranged it all as best I could.

A Crooked Happy Birthday — FMS173

It’s Wednesday, so that means we have a new sketch for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches blog.  And this Wednesday, the amazing Kim Singdahlsen is our hostess.  Look at what she has for us:

I had some birthday themed products out on my desk, so I decided to start there.  I used the Balloon Bash stamp set and the Birthday Bash dsp.

Crooked HBI embossed the focal image with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, cut it out, and popped it up with dimensionals.  I love how the specialty dsp also has gold embossing on some of the balloons.

Crooked HB Close UpWe hope you’ll join in and make your own card using the sketch.  We love to look through the gallery and see how you use the sketch.  You can see what the rest of the design team made this week over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  They always wow me.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Big Day Birthday Tags — Monday Montage #37

Monday Montage Banner -- OctoberWelcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We have ten stampers who are sharing their latest creations with you, and all you have to do is click on the links at the bottom of each post to see all of them.

It seems like February is birthday month around here.  There are a couple in our house and several others among family and friends.  One thing I am always making at the last minute is tags for birthday presents.  Usually minutes before we are leaving for a birthday party, I am trying to put one together before we head out the door.

I love the Big Day stamp set, which is one of the Sale-a-Bration stamp sets.  I thought it would be perfect to make some cute birthday tags.   I sat down to make one, and while I was at it, I thought I should make a few while I had the supplies out on my desk so that I’ll be ready for the next time I need one.

Birthday Tags Group

I pulled out my Coastal Cabana, Smoky Slate, and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities to color the images.  I also used little scraps of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and the Scalloped Tag Topper punch.   Here’s a closer look at each one:

Since I made some extras, I thought it would be nice to have something in which to store them, so I decorated one of the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes.

You’re ready to venture over to Breelin Renwick’s blog to see her amazing creations.  She is always inspiring and makes such beautiful things.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can hop on over to Wendy Weixler’s blog and ooh and aah over her fabulous work.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all ten blogs.

Celebrate Real Nice — FMS172

It’s Wednesday yet again, and this week the ever clever and always talented Linda Callahan is our hostess over at Freshly Made Sketches.  She has a great sketch for us:

I am in need of birthday cards this month, so I decided to make one using the Balloon Bash set.  I took a few liberties with the sketch, but stuck to it for the most part.

Celebrate Real NiceI stamped the focal image/sentiment and then fussy cut it out.  I wasn’t happy with it when I placed it against the white card base, as I thought it needed something to make it pop.  So I decided to sponge a little Crushed Curry ink behind the image.  I am definitely not very skilled at that technique, but I do think it served its purpose.

Celebrate Real Nice Close UpI colored the little banner in the top corner from Celebrate Today with my Stampin’ Write markers before stamping and then cut it out with the Balloon Framelits Dies.  The dsp is from the Birthday Bash dsp collection.

We hope you’ll make your own card using the sketch and share it in the gallery so we can see it.  Be sure to go by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the rest of the design team made this week.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Celebrate with Cake

Celebrate with CakeEven though February is a short month, I need a lot of birthday cards so I decided I’d better start stocking up.

I pulled out a fun Sale-a-Bration set, Big Day, and got to work.  I started by spreading some embossing paste (non SU!) over the Dots Decorative Mask.  While that was drying, I stamped the images on a Project Life Grid Card and colored them with some Blendabilities.

Celebrate with Cake Close upI hope you’ve recovered from the Super Bowl last night.  That was a pretty crazy finish, wasn’t it?

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine Smooch

Valentine Snuggles and SmoochesI have another card for you using the Snuggles & Smooches set.  When I showed this to my youngest child and asked what she thought about this card, her reply was “it’s kinda messy.”  I love how she’s always honest.

I used Gorgeous Grunge to add the splatters.  I also used some washi tape and sequins.  The color scheme is Real Red, Crisp Cantaloupe, Smoky Slate, and black.  The dsp is from the Stacked with Love dsp stack.

Crazy About Irresistibly Yours

It’s been too long since I’ve played along with a challenge at The Paper Players, so I decided I needed to remedy that situation.  I love the versatile sketch this week:

I also decided that I needed to use a stamp set that hasn’t seen ink yet, so I pulled the Crazy About You bundle out.  I love how this stamp set has coordinating framelits.

PPA Flower and Polka DotsI stamped the flower three times using Daffodil Delight ink and then fussy-cut the top two layers of the flower.  I stamped the leaves using Pear Pizzazz ink and punched out a Calypso Coral circle, which I then pierced using my paper piercer.

For the background dsp I used some of the Irresistibly Yours Specialty dsp and used a paintbrush and some Smoky Slate ink mixed with a little water to watercolor the dsp.  I have really enjoyed trying different techniques with this dsp.  I also added a little Wisteria Wonder scalloped edge along the bottom.

The sentiment is from a Sale-a-Bration set, Simply Wonderful.  I love the sweet sentiments in this set.
