Comfort & Joy — FMS615

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes all the way from New Zealand via our incredibly talented friend, Karren Johnson. Take a look at what she has for us:

The Christmas Classics Bundle was perfect for a quick and easy card for this sketch.

I started by stamping the sentiment and holly sprigs, and then cut them out with a circle die. I used another die from the collection to cut the glimmer paper.

A little baker’s twine bow and some red rhinestones were used as embellishments. Quick and easy.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Making Spirits Bright — FMS614

We have a new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes all the way from Canada via our card-making and mountain-hiking friend, Jen Brum. Take a look at this fun sketch with lots of circles:

I decided to go with the general “feel” of the sketch and use an image that flows diagonally across the card. All of those circles kinda threw me for a loop, so I chose to go a slightly different way.

I used one of the greenery boughs from the Joy of Noel stamp set and stamped it twice – once on the top half of the card and again on the bottom half. I then colored it with my alcohol markers.

I embossed the sentiment using white embossing powder on a strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock and layered that on some gold foil card stock. Some gold cording was looped underneath.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Festive Giraffe — FMS613

There’s a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our favorite Rocky Mountain resident, Kim Singdahlsen. Take a look at her fun sketch:

Wanting to color something, I pulled out my Festive & Fun stamp set. I thought the image with the giraffe would work well with the sketch, so I stamped it and colored it with my alcohol markers.

I used some Joy of Christmas dsp and kept everything simple on this card.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has made for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday and your Thanksgiving tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by!

Thermos Twins — FMS612

We have a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week is t is provided by Linda Callahan, our witty and fun up-state New Yorker friend. Take a look at her fun sketch:

As I mentioned last week, I had played with the Warmest Heart bundle for quite a while, trying to use it for last week’s sketch. But I couldn’t make it work so I gave up and switched to another set. However, our hostess this week, the lovely Linda Callahan, did use the Warmest Heart bundle last week and she made a fabulous card with it. When I saw her sketch this week, I thought I could try again with the Warmest Heart bundle — those two columns could be cute thermoses, right? Since I had lots of cut-out thermoses on my desk from my previous failed attempt, I decided to use them.

I die-cut the thermoses from Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Pool Party, and Lost Lagoon card stock. I also used some silver foil paper for the tops of the thermoses. The sentiment is from the coordinating Warmest Heart stamp set, and the dsp background is from the Hello Irresistible collection.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Peace on Earth — FMS611

We’re back with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is provided by our favorite Bay Stater stamper, Jen Mitchell. Take a look at her fun square sketch:

After playing around with a new bundle, the Warmest Heart Bundle for over an hour, I gave up and changed course completely. I had fun creating cute little thermoses with the Warmest Heart Bundle but I just couldn’t get happy with trying to make them work with the sketch. So I completely changed course and decided to make a Christmas card using the Christmas Classics Bundle.

I paired the Bundle with the Joy of Christmas dsp. It was fun to make a square card. I don’t make them very often, but always enjoy it when I do.

Remember I mentioned that I wanted to use the Warmest Heart Bundle and then threw in the towel in frustration as I couldn’t make it work with the sketch? Well, I noticed that one of our other more talented designers, Linda Callahan, made a beautiful card with it. So be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what she and the rest of the design team made for your inspiration! And then be sure to make your own card using the sketch and post it to the gallery so we can all see it.

Irresistible Paper Flowers — FMS610

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us via Jen Timko, who always wows me with her coloring and clean card making skills. Take a look at her sketch:

Not gonna lie — I struggled with this one. I’ve been struggling with card making in general for a while now. I started with leaves for the circles and then tried a couple of other things and just didn’t like what I came up with. So here it is. I’m still not thrilled, but I decided to call it a day.

I ended up cutting out some flowers with the Paper Florist Dies using some of the Hello, Irresistible dsp. The three dsp strips on the card are from the same dsp pack. The sentiment is from the Lasting Joy stamp set.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Dog Day Birthday — FMS609

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us via Judy Rozema, our theater-loving Nebraskan friend and she has a good one. Take a look:

My youngest has a birthday on Friday, so I knew what kind of card I wanted to make with the sketch. Since she’s a big dog lover and The Zoo Crew suite has some images that are perfect for a birthday celebration, I knew what products I wanted to use. That’s over half of the work done for me!

I started by cutting out the partying puppy from a piece of the Zoo Crew dsp. I stamped some of the confetti on a square of white card stock on which I had blended some Pumpkin Pie ink and colored the confetti with markers before placing the puppy on the square.

The sentiment is from the Something Fancy stamp set. I placed a little flag from Lemon Lime Twist card stock under it. Another piece of dsp was used on the card base. I blended some Pool Party ink on it.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Holly Greetings — FMS608

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is provided by the talented and creative Jacquie Southas. Take a look at her fun sketch:

Well, I have to say this sketch threw me for a loop! After meditating for a while, I decided to use some of the dies from the Christmas Classics die collection.

I started by stamping some of the greenery using Old Olive ink and the Christmas Classics stamp set over some Daffodil Delight blended ink on a white piece of card stock. I then cut out some holly leaves and berries using Garden Green card stock and some old Cherry Cobbler glimmer paper.

The sentiment is also from the Christmas Classics stamp set.

Deck the Halls — FMS607

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is my turn to provide the sketch and serve as the hostess. I made a sketch with some layers this week, so you can use up some dsp or play with some new color combinations, or you could just wow us with something totally clever, which does seem to happen every week. Here is the sketch:

I hadn’t used the new Joy of Noel nor the Christmas Classics stamp sets yet, and thought they would pair up nicely for this sketch.

I started by stamping the boughs of greenery twice on a card-sized piece of white card stock. I colored it with my alcohol markers and then cut about a half inch off the card stock all the way around without cutting any of the greenery.

The sentiment was embossed and then cut out with a die from the coordinating Christmas Classics dies, and I added some old red rhinestones as embellishments.

This was all layered on a piece of designer paper from the Joy of Christmas dsp pack.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Taco Trio — FMS606

We’re back with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our Aussie queen of collages and wizard with the scissors, Narelle Farrugia, is our hostess. Take a look at her fun sketch:

When I saw those three circles, I thought of tacos. Truth be told, I’m often thinking of tacos and there are lots of awesome places to get tacos here in Texas. And in honor of National Taco Day (Yes, that’s really a thing!) which is today, I thought the cute tacos in the Taco Fiesta stamp set would work well with the sketch and the holiday.

I stamped the tacos, colored them with Copic markers, and then cut them out with my paper snips (in honor of our hostess, Narelle).

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.
