A Small Break from Christmas Cards

I feel like I’ve been making Christmas cards for so long that I felt the need to make something non-Christmas-y today.  There is an adorable set in the Holiday Catalog called Affection Collection, and it was given to all of us Stampin’ Up convention attendees.  It’s geared towards Valentine’s Day, but is really appropriate for much more than that.  And since this set is only available through the end of the month, I thought I’d better use it before you won’t be able to get it anymore.

Love Affection Collection

I used this week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for this card.

My favorite thing on this card is the embossed background behind the bow and main image.  I used the Etruscan Elegance wheel (LOVE that thing) with clear embossing powder.  I love the look of clear embossing powder on Very Vanilla card stock.  Here’s a closer look:

Affection Close Up

This was a fun card to make, and I think I’ve found a new favorite color combination — Pool Party, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, and Very Vanilla.  The catalog says the designer series paper’s color is Riding Hood Red, but it must be a different shade than the card stock.  Whatever it is, I love it with the other colors.

I hope you enjoy your Sunday!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Fabulous card Amy! I just love it! I love how you’ve added that little silver heart and of course I love that bow! Also nice to have a change from Christmas cards (though I must confess my card for Wednesday’s sketch is a Christmas card…sigh…). Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
