An Easter Treat

Posies and Jelly Beans

While I was playing with the Pop-Up Posies Designer Kit, I made this little Easter treat.  I folded the embossed tag in half and added some strips of dsp.  I filled the small cello bag with some Easter “grass” and jelly bean eggs.  Easy peasy!

Have a great Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Posies and Butterflies on a Bag

butterfly bagI’ve been playing with the Pop-Up Posies Designer Kit lately and decided to use one of the embossed tags in the kit on a gift bag.  I bought the sack at a big box store (it came with several of them packaged together), adhered some pennant flags and added some butterflies and ribbon.  Super easy!

I’m having some computer woes today.  I was going to place my laptop gently on the floor last night, when it kinda slipped from my hand and hit the carpeted floor a little hard (that sounds like how one of my kids might explain it :)).  Now the monitor has lines running down the right side and across the bottom so that you can’t see those parts of the images on the screen.  The rest of the laptop seems to be running fine, but it severely limits how I can use my laptop.  I guess I’ll have to take it into the shop today.  Boo!  I’m typing this post on the Mac, and everything is taking me several times longer than normal because I’m not familiar with this thing.

Have a great Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Three Flowers that Finally Found a Home — FMS76

Recently, I was invited to join the Freshly Made Sketches design team.  I jumped at the chance as I love this team’s sketches and designs, and have played along with many of their challenges since I found the website a few months ago.

This is my first week to be on the team, and Linda has a great sketch for us.

I had made some paper flowers months ago and decided to not use them on the project for which I made them.  They’ve been sitting on my desk all this time as I couldn’t bear to throw them away.  I knew they would eventually find a home.  When I saw this sketch, I knew immediately that I could use them.

So Kind of You Flowers

I used the 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle punch to make the flowers.  Here’s a link to a tutorial by Kelly Goree on how to make them if you’re interested in making some of your own.

I hope you’ll be able to join us and make a project for this challenge!  Here’s some inspiration from the other designers:

Birthday Cupcake

a cupcake birthday

Here’s a birthday card I made for my fantastic upline last week.  Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Amy!

Because I am really drawn to a clean style with straight lines, wrinkling up dsp and giving it a “messy” look is quite unnatural for me — it just doesn’t feel right.  However, I like the look and decided I needed to use it a little more.  However, you can see that I didn’t quite let go — it doesn’t look very distressed in the photo, does it?  🙂  I guess old styles die hard.

Have a great Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

I love the new Sent with Love special offering.  I love the colors and the mail-themed elements.  It is a fun suite!

This card uses a combination of elements from one of the sheets of dsp and stamped images.  This sheet of dsp has different banners and tags that you can cut out and use.  The hardest part of making this card was deciding which ones to use.

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Flower of Many Textures — PP135

LeAnne has a fun challenge for us this week at the Paper Players that involves “stitches.”  I love how she left room for those who really dislike sewing — your card could be one that leaves us in stitches.

I must say that I was stumped by this one for quite a while.  I like sewing on a card, but I usually just limit that to sewing around the outside edges.  I wanted to do a little more with this challenge.  I finally decided on sewing some stitches on the felt flower petals that I cut with a die.  I used some linen thread for my stitches.

I also wanted to cut a flower layer using some burlap material I bought a while ago for this purpose.  My first attempt months ago didn’t go so well — I couldn’t keep the burlap from making a complete mess because it unravels so easily.  I had tried to make a rolled flower that time, so this time I decided to just die cut a flower layer.  It worked better, but it’s still unraveling.  Any tips or suggestions?

A Pinwheel Wish

A Pinwheel Wish

I wanted to play with the fun pinwheel sizzlits die in the Spring catalog again, and we received the Make a Wish stamp set at the Dallas regional event and I hadn’t used it yet, so I decided to combine the two and make one card.

My daughter has a birthday party to attend today, so I might just stick this card in with the gift.

Enjoy your Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Flower Trio — FabFri13

Yea! It’s time for another challenge at the Fab Friday Challenge Blog today. And I love the sketch for today.

I didn’t use the butterfly shape; I chose an oval instead.  Use your imagination, and surprise us with your creation.  Of course, you can use a butterfly if you’d like.  Who doesn’t like butterflies?

Flower Trio -- Fab Fri13

I am stuck on this color combo — I LOVE it!  Have you noticed how coral is everywhere these days!  Every catalog I get in the mail features this color.

I distressed the flowers with my bone folder before gluing them together.  Here’s a closer look:

A Trio of Flowers Closeup

Not much stamping on this card — just the chevron background on the oval.  Just plenty of Big Shot work — how did we ever live without this thing?  I didn’t put a sentiment on this card.  I just couldn’t figure out where to put one.  It’s nice to have a few cards on hand without a sentiment anyways.

Well, I hope you can find time to join us at Fab Friday for this sketch challenge.  Enjoy your Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!
