Autumn Leaves and a Dog

Even though it has been HOT and miserable here, I have been drawn to the Sweater Weather dsp lately.  I love Autumn, and I am so ready for it to arrive here in north Texas.

lots of leaves

In other news here, I would like to introduce you to the newest member of our family, Maggie, who is a two-year old Pug.

MaggieWhile I was on my way to convention last month (I was in the car on the way to the airport, mind you), I got a text from my husband saying that he had found a dog to adopt.  Now we had talked about getting a dog (it has been two years since our previous beloved dog passed away) off and on over the past month, but I thought we were agreed that we’d revisit the topic after I got back home.  However, when I got home I had an extra family member to welcome me back.

Maggie is very sweet and is definitely my youngest child’s dog.  She waits outside her bedroom door for my youngest to get up each morning.  This week, Maggie has looked like this a lot:

maggieMy kids went back to school on Monday, and Maggie and I have been a little depressed.  She sticks very near to me, and sleeps by my feet while I stamp.  It is nice to have company while the kids are at school.

Enjoy your Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Congratulations to Maggie for finding a great family to join. I am sure she brings you great companionship through the day.

I have this stamp set but not the die as it looks difficult to get the two to Lina up. Any thoughts to share?

    • It is a little difficult to line up. I have good luck with die-cutting the card stock first, inking up the coordinating stamp and setting the stamp rubber side up on my table, and then setting the die-cut card stock on top of the inked stamp and gently pressing down with my fingers. Hopefully, that will work for you too.

  2. Maggie is so cute, & having 2 small dogs of my own, they do the same thing when I go to work or travel & live by my side in my stamp room. Awwww! The card is beautiful & I too love the paper! TFS

  3. What a sweet, sweet face she has! Looks like your husband made a great choice for your family.
Love the card, too. Fall cards are my favorites.

  4. Maggie really is beautiful and so sweet-looking, I just love looking at her! That is quite a story to go along with her, too! Well, I am glad you especially enjoy each other while the kiddos are in school (we have our own pug to enjoy just as much, they are truly sweeties!)!! I’m sure your new addition brings you all joy, “hands down!” 🙂 Thank you for sharing her with us!
Your card is Beautiful too, I love it. Loved reading your tip on how to stamp the leaves also, I’d forgotten about doing it that way as I use my SAMJ (w/ease), myself.
Thanks for such fun sharing! Hugs to you pug!!! Cheers, Donna

  5. Hi Amy, I LOVE your post today, your card is terrific but, as well, Maggie is beautiful and sweet! I LOVE your photos of her! Of course we’ve written and shared stories of her before, yes, but, I didn’t want to be obvious about that on your blog so that’s why it reads like I just learned of your story, “now!” I trust all is well with her at home, and am smiling with love. I sure hope sheeeee is feeling more comfortable there too, poor thing! My son starts school on the 9th, atypical from the start the Wed. prior; strange. Best wishes for the new school year and Amy, trust me when I say, they really fly by so make sure you enjoy your “young” children (they are only “this young,” today!)! That is painfully so once they reach HS! 🙂 Have a wonderful holiday weekend, too! With love, Donna

  6. I like your beautiful card very much…those leaves are so pretty but I have trouble deciding how to use them.
Maggie is a little cutie and thank you and your family for giving her a forever home. I’m sure she will return all the love and affection ten fold.
Looking forward to more great posts on cards and on how Maggie is doing! Thank you!

  7. We just lost our beloved dog to old age woes. We are not “ready” to get a new dog, but after 2 years, you sound like you are. She is just adorable! Is she house trained? How old is she and where did your husband find her? Please keep us up to date. Your card is so cheerful. I may have to try my hand at making one. I love this bundle. Give Maggie a hug for me. Nancy B

  8. Love your card Amy! I’ve been on the fence about getting this set but you might just change my mind! And I’m so happy for your family with the addition of adorable Maggie! I had to laugh as I have done the exact same thing to my hubby several times (bring home a dog without his knowledge)! We now have 7 dogs, 5 Golden Retrievers and 2 Terriers! Good thing he loves dogs as much as I do! Of course each time he tells me if I bring home another dog, I’m going to need a new husband, but he’s still here! LOL Enjoy your new baby, I don’t know what I’d do without my dogs, they are great company now that the kids are grown and gone.
