Love Who You Are — FMS148

It’s time for another sketch for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site!  And this week Jen Mitchell is our hostess.  I am always in awe of how she can make such clean designs look so beautiful.  She has a great sketch for us too:

I received a free stamp at convention.  It’s one of the single stamps and is called Love Who You Are.  I hadn’t used it yet, and I thought it would work well with this sketch.

Love Who You AreYou see those pretty orange sequins?  They’re a sneak peek of something that will be included in an upcoming My Paper Pumpkin kit.  The dsp is from the Confetti Celebration pack, and I thought the geometric pattern matched the stamp so well.

Love Who You Are Close UpI think I need a little help with the sentiment on this stamp though.  I have puzzled over exactly what it means.  It reminds me a little bit of a cognitive optical illusion.  When you look at this picture, what do you see?

Do you see a duck or do you see a bunny?  I can see both (I saw the duck first though, how about you?).  Well, I kinda feel this way about the sentiment in this stamp.  I can’t decide if it’s a command — it’s telling someone that they should love who they are, or is it saying (I) love who you are?  Sometimes I interpret it one way and sometimes I interpret it the other.  Help me out!  What do you think?

On to more important matters — we have a guest designer this month!  The fabulous Kim Singdahlsen will be with us for the month of August.  I always love everything she makes, and I’m thrilled to have her on board with us.  Be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site and give her some love.  And please play along with us this week and post your card in the gallery!  We love seeing what you make.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Ha! What a different post; LOL! I TOTALLY saw a duck and chuckled to read how it can also be a bunny. Good one Amy. Well, to answer your question, I totally have read that sentiment as a command to another but you make a very good point. Sometimes I type notes in a “short cut” manner by leaving off the “I” at the beginning of a sentence and when I read it back, It seems all wrong and I must add the “I” in anyway so… the above does look like a command to me! 🙂

I tend to “write a lot, or, with emotion,” so I am sure the message on the front would become clear in it’s meaning once I back up my thoughts with my wishes on the inside of the card, too. (I hope that helps you to better use the stamp?)!

Your card is great regardless; I love how you colored the sentiment and how the orange sequins and treatment on the side look; wonderful card! TFS!

  2. Well, I saw the duck first then the bunny. And as for the sentiment I first read it as a command: (you should) love who you are. But I can see your point that it could also mean (I) love who you are. I guess it’s a bargain “two stamps in one” deal! In any event I love how you colored it up!

  3. I also see both, but first the duck!! But like everyone else,i first saw your stunning card!!
Love…love the colors,as always and the sentiment is awesome just like the sequins along the side!! FAB,Amy!!!

  4. Love your thoughts on the sentiment… I took it as a command and hadn’t even thought of it the other way. And I saw a duck, yet, with a little bit of work, finally saw the bunny! Anyway, I LOVE how you used that stamp and the way that you colored it. Great card, Amy!
