Hooray for Wednesday! Wednesdays bring us a new challenge over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week the oh-so-kind and lovely Jen Brum is our hostess. She is so talented with her CAS style, and she has a great sketch for us this week.
This is a nice, simple sketch which offers so many possibilities. But for some reason, I really spun my wheels with it. It took me forever to settle on a stamp set, then it took a long time to pick colors, and then I just couldn’t get happy with my layout. But I had a deadline and after wasting lots of time, it’s amazing how much I can get done with just fifteen minutes left on the clock when I have to. 🙂
I ended up using the #hello stamp set and a color combo of Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry with a little gold thrown in there. These are two colors I really like but rarely use anymore, so it was nice to dust those ink pads off a little.
The splatters are from the Gorgeous Grunge set (does it even need to be introduced anymore?), which I embossed with gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
We would love for you to join us and make your own card for this challenge. We love looking at all of the cards in the gallery each week. Meanwhile, head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team made this week.
Enjoy your Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!
lovely…awesome pops of gold.
Great card (and “thrown together?!!”)!!! I am soo happy to know that that “struggle” is not my own, it’s reassuring in a (sad) way. I’m glad you got it together; your card is lovely! I love that embossed gold, too. (Is the blue circle from that strange alphabet set? I’ll go investigate.) TFS!
Hi, Donna! The blue striped circle is from the #hello stamp set. I just stamped it twice — once in Tempting Turquoise and once in Rich Razzleberry, and cut out the sentiment part on the Razzleberry one and placed it on the Turquoise piece.
Well the final result is wonderful……no matter how you got there 🙂 I love the gold with the razzleberry! And the splotches are such fun!
Super color combo and your glimmer paper really make everything pop!
I can’t believe you put this beauty together in such a short time – that’s how long it normally takes me to choose a stamp LOL. Love those gold splatters and the cotton behind your central image.
Sometimes it takes a deadline to bring out the best! You’ve hit a home run again with this gorgeous color combo. And I am in love with the gold glimmer and the gold embossed splatters!
Such a beautiful card Amy! I just love that fantastic mix of colours and patterns! I love the added splotches and the twine! I tried to make my twine do that the other day and couldn’t make it work! I just look at this card and smile! So pretty!
Stunning card,Amy!! WOW! These colors, the gold splatters…i love this card!!
15 mins??? That card would take me 2 hours to put together! I love this card Amy – the white card base really makes those colours you used just shine!
Crazy how this happens! Some of my favorite cards come about exactly the same way. Love this one!
This is another gorgeous design, Amy! You have such an awesome talent with colors and finishing touches, and this card is no exception. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I love your style!
Ummm….15 minutes? Amazing. I love the turquoise; it’s one of my favorite colors, but I struggle to use it on cards.
