We’re ready with another sketch challenge for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site today. And this week, our Canadian friend, Jen Brum, is our hostess. Look at this fun sketch she has for us:
I think Jen has been secretly abducted by aliens and replaced with an impostor because this sketch has six circles, and Jen has a strong aversion to circles. That’s the only way I can explain it. 😉 Regardless, I love the sketch and thought of several different ways to approach it.
I ended up pulling out my Balloon Celebration stamp set, and repeatedly stamping and embossing the circles. I then watercolored over them, using the emboss-resist technique. I used a color combo of Watermelon Wonder, Daffodil Delight, and Bermuda Bay.
I stamped and embossed the sentiment from the You’re So Lovely stamp set. The banner frame comes from that stamp set as well. It has a coordinating die in the Large Numbers Framelits.
We hop you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch this week. We love looking through the gallery! Meanwhile, you can jump over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team did with all of those circles. You’ll be inspired!
Enjoy your Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!

Love the water coloring and your color choices. Love all the layers and how everything came together to make such a lovely card!
Love the perfection of this!
Oh those colors and that wonderful stamp!
Such a lovely card! Makes me think of summer!
Yep, this is so lovely!! What a great color combination and I love the watercolor wash behind the images!
What a fun take on the sketch, Amy! Those colors are just gorgeous together and to use watercoloring gives these fun colors such a loose and carefree look. Love it!
Hi Amy,
I thought these were juicy colorful orange slices, silly me! I think I should never go for those sketches psychiatrists want me to name hahahahha!
But seriously, your card is fun and colorful. There simply is no look like real watercolor on the proper paper. Its so rich looking. What a great take on the theme!
Blessings
I love this! Such fun with the bright splashes of color! So bright and happy!
What a wonderful, bright, and cheery card! The images remind me of tropical fruit slices with these great colors!
This card is just so fun Amy! I love the watercolour effect (I need to do this!!!) and I love those circles! They look so amazing!!! Love the baker’s twine too! Very pretty!
Ha! I think we all thought the same thing – she’s been complaining about those circles for so long and then aces the sketch! Your card is so creative and so cool! Love it!
What a pretty card, Amy. I love the watercoling, especially the pretty colors you chose. The embellishments are definitely where you shine. The gold string and placement of the lacy ribbon really makes this card extra special.
