Another Wednesday…another sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! And this week our fabulously talented friend from New Zealand, Karren Johnson, is our hostess. Look at this fun sketch that she has for us:
One of my favorite stamp sets in the Occasions Catalog is Birthday Blooms. I love the sentiments and the flower stamps are absolutely gorgeous. And I just haven’t used it enough. So I pulled it off my shelf and had some fun watercoloring.
I stamped the image on Shimmery White cardstock and watercolored with Blushing bride, Watermelon Wonder, Mossy Meadow, and Old Olive ink using an aquapainter. I applied some Gold Wink of Stella Glitter on the flower center.
A strip of Birthday Bouquet dsp is angled to the side, and the sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set. I embossed it on Basic Black cardstock with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
I think I am going to save this one and stamp Happy Mother’s Day on the inside of the card for my mom.
We hope you’ll join us and play along with the challenge. We love seeing what you create in the gallery! Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site for a big dose of creative inspiration from the design team.
Enjoy your Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!

You do have a way with that aquapainter! Beautifully done…..love that gorgeous flower!
Your mum will love this card Amy – it’s totally gorgeous and feminine! I love the boldness of that black and white label.
This is so beautiful Amy! I love the flower (your coloring is fabulous) and the sentiment stamped on the little banner is fabulous.

Oh Amy! This card is so beautiful! I love that sweet flower (your colouring is amazing) and the amazing sentiment! This will be the perfect Mother’s Day card!
The card is fabulous, Do you have any tips to share for water coloring around the flower? Do you color this the very last after you have finished coloring all of the flower?
I usually color the image first and let it dry. Then I go back and lightly add the coloring around the image. I try to use a very light touch and a light color, like Soft Sky or Smoky Slate.
This is so lovely, Amy. I think I might need to try and get this set before the catalog ends. It looks like a fun flower to color.
Amy, thank you for replying, I think I really need this rose stamp and I better hurry before it is gone.
