It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite Coloradan, Kim Singdahlsen, is our hostess. She has a fun sketch for us. Here’s a peek:
I needed to make some birthday cards, so I knew I wanted to use the Birthday Cheer stamp set. I love the images in this set and I knew they’d be fun to color.
I colored the present with markers and totally goofed up when I made the strip that goes behind the focal image. I cut a piece of polka-dot dsp from the Botanical Butterfly dsp collection, which is a Sale-a-Bration offering, with the intention of watercoloring three stripes of color on it — one in Bermuda Bay, one in Daffodil Delight, and one in Poppy Parade. I had a long interruption between cutting it out and sitting down to color it, and I totally forgot my plan when I picked up my aquapainter. I didn’t even realize I had forgotten my plan until I started this post and really looked at the sketch again. Oops!
Be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team made, especially since they have all properly used the sketch this week. And then make and post your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you create.
Enjoy your Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!

I didn’t even notice your oops until you mentioned it! I was too busy admiring the colors on the angled layer and wondering whether it was DSP or more of your fabulous color choices! I love this card!

Hi Amy – please don’t be upset with me, but you sure have a lot of ads on your blog 😦 BUT your card is magnificent!!! Its so pretty and bright that whoever receives this one is getting TWO presents – your card is a present in itself, a handmade one at that! Hope you have a super creative weekend.
Your polka dot background piece is just so much fun, Amy, that you’re totally forgiven for the oops 🙂 . Fabulous card!
