Mother Duck — FMS384

It’s already time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! The time is truly flying. My daughter is graduating next month, and she has a countdown clock on her phone. Every time I look at it, I am amazed at how quickly time is passing. I want to hack into her phone and slow that darn clock down. But I know that won’t work. Besides, I’m not technologically savvy enough to do that. Our good friend Linda, is our hostess this week. Not only does she make fabulous cards, but she is witty and fun, and she has a great sketch for us this week. Take a peek:

When I saw the focal panel, I immediately thought of the cute little ducks in the Fable Friends set.  I stamped the images on watercolor paper and used my aqua painter to color the scene with my ink pads.  Once I went to cut it out, I realized it was a little larger than I anticipated and that it wouldn’t work with the sketch.  So I decided to flip the orientation.  Yeah, it was one of those days.

As I was coloring this scene, I kept thinking how this is one lucky duck — her children are following along right behind her.  Two of my three ducks are wandering off in their own direction, as my oldest is several hours away at college and my middle child is about to graduate and go even farther away to school.  I guess even ducklings grow up and fly away.  I’m glad there are airplanes so I can fly and go see my ducklings.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. What a sweet card….and just remember, even if your ducklings have grown up and flown away, you’ll ALWAYS be their mom!!! Lovely coloring and just adorable all round!

  2. Your ducklings may be growing up but you’re right, there are airplanes so that you can visit them! I love the imagery of you as the momma and the ducklings as your kiddos. The card is great and I’m sure you will be too 🙂

  3. Amy, this card is so sweet! I just love Mother Goose and her little goslings! They are so sweet! Your watercoloring is so beautiful too. I really need to come and get some lessons! You do it so perfectly!

  4. What a great spring image! I’m so happy to live in a time where I can see my babies even when they are half way around the world. It’s not the same as getting a hug, but it helps.

  5. Love your flip on the sketch. What a fun image this is! And I can’t even wrap around that graduation word. I need to help you figure out that clock thing!!
