Thankful for Her — FMS412

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our good friend from way up north in Canada, Jen Brum.  Take a look at this super versatile sketch:

My middle child is in her first year of college over 1,000 miles away from home.  And she is not coming home for Thanksgiving.  😦  She has tickets to her school’s big rivalry football game on the Saturday morning after Thanksgiving and has class on Wednesday, so it doesn’t make sense to come home for just two days when she’ll be home for Christmas break just two weeks later.  I keep telling myself that this is the smart thing to do, but it hurts my heart.  Another family in Michigan has offered to adopt her for the day, so she won’t be alone but I wanted to send her a care package with some treats from home to let her know we will miss her.  Here’s the card I made to put in the box.

I hadn’t used the To Every Season stamp set yet, and it has some cute images for — you guessed it — every season (well, not exactly EVERY season, but at least Fall, Winter, and Valentine’s Day).  I started by stamping the three leaf images randomly on a white piece of card stock and then colored them with my alcohol markers.  I colored the background a pretty shade of Pool Party too.

I stamped the sentiment on some Basic Black cardstock and embossed it with white embossing powder.  Some copper sequins were sprinkled on as embellishments.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. This card is so pretty Amy! I just love those leaves! Your colouring is fantastic! I’m so happy your daughter has an adoptive family to take her in over Thanksgiving! She will definitely love getting this card!!!

  2. My youngest who is in his first year at college isn’t coming home either! He decided his roommate’s family would be more fun. I sent him a card but not a care package – and my card was snarky – not lovely like yours!

  3. Oh, I remember when I did that the first time to my poor parents. I had no idea how hard it surely was on them. I’m glad she has someone taking care of her for Thanksgiving. This is lovely and the perfect way for her to know how much she is missed.
