A Merry Toile Christmas — FMS416

Twas the week before Christmas and we have a new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches.  It’s my turn to be the hostess, and with the craziness of last minute preparations, I thought a card that features a tilted/crooked/wonky panel would be appropriate.  Take a look:

The closer I get to Christmas, the simpler my cards become.  With this one, I let the pretty Toile Tidings dsp do most of the work.  I paired it with my favorite sentiment die from the Merry Christmas Dies.  I just love the scripty “M” in this one.

The “Merry” was cut from the Red Glimmer Paper and the “Christmas” was stamped with a stamp from the coordinating Merry Christmas to All stamp set.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  I know it’s a busy time of year and it can be hard to carve out time to craft, but this challenge will be open for three weeks.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Winter Birch Greetings — FMS415

We have a new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the repeat Artisan award-winning, card maker extraordinaire, Narelle Farrugia.  Take a look at this fun sketch:

I had the still unopened October Paper Pumpkin kit sitting on my desk, and when I saw the sketch I thought the sparkly birch trees in the kit would work with this sketch.  So I blended an ink background using Night of Navy and Pool Party inks, and then added a couple of the birch trees and one of the sweet cardinals to make a little wintery scene.

The stamp set included in the kit has a snow stamp, which I stamped and embossed using white embossing powder.  The sentiment, which is also in the included stamp set, was also embossed on a piece of Poppy Parade card stock.

Some Snowflake Sequins were also added for some additional sparkle.  This was a pretty quick card to pull together.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Over the Moon for 24 Years — FMS414

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our Kiwi friend who is supremely talented with inks and all things coloring-related, Karren Johnson, is our hostess.  Take a look at this fun sketch:

My husband and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary this week.  Just like the month of December does, our anniversary always sneaks up on me.  I mean, how can it be December already?!?  Since I needed to make a card fast, this sketch came to my rescue.

I pulled out the Over the Moon stamp set because it’s cute and has a sentiment that I thought would work for an anniversary, and I thought I could make it work with the sketch.

I started by masking the cow and blending some Pear Pizzazz and Balmy Blue inks on a piece of white card stock.  I then colored in the cow with my alcohol markers.

The sentiment was stamped on Basic Black card stock and embossed with white embossing powder.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

To Every Snowflake Season — Monday Montage #153

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

With the craziness of the holidays last week, I didn’t get to finish my card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge on Wednesday.  I had most of it done using this great sketch:

When I first saw this sketch, I immediately thought of snowflakes where the stars are.  I still had the To Every Season stamp set on my desk and it has three cute snowflakes on it that I thought would work perfectly.

I started by blending some Blueberry Bushel and Balmy Blue ink on a piece of white card stock.  I then embossed the snowflakes with white embossing powder.  The large sentiment was die-cut from Cherry Cobbler card stock using The Merry Christmas dies.  The “Christmas” sentiment was stamped using a stamp from the Merry Christmas to All stamp set.

I added some Snowflake Sequins and called it a day.
