Rest and Relax, Dad — FMS438

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our favorite New Zealander, Karren Johnson, who has mad coloring skills and creates absolutely gorgeous cards.  Take a look at the fun sketch she has for us:

I thought I would try to get ahead on the Father’s Day cards since it will be here before we know it.  Male cards are so hard for me.  I always struggle with finding a stamp set on my shelf that is good for these cards.  The Timeless Tropical set has a great palm tree stamp that I thought would be perfect, especially when paired with one of the sentiments in the set.

I started by cutting out the panel for the focal image with a stitched die and sponged a little color on for the sky and sand.  I then used my Stampin’ Write Markers in Old Olive and Soft Suede to color the stamp before stamping it on the focal panel.  I lightly colored in the tree trunks with a Sahara Sand marker.  I then embossed the sentiment with some black embossing powder.

Some strips of coordinating Tropical Oasis dsp were used on the side of the card base and the focal panel was adhered with dimensionals.

This card came together easily and quickly.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. This is such a great Father’s Day card! I love the palm trees and the DSP you’ve used! Seems perfectly masculine to me! I really love those nested labels dies and need to get some for myself. They’re on the list!!
