Perennials for Easter — FMS478

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the amazing Jen Timko. Actually, I should call her Captain Timko, as she has recently become one of United Airline’s newest captains. A big Congratulations to her!! Take a look at the fun sketch she has for us this week:

I need to make some Easter cards to put in some Easter Basket care packages, so that was my goal with this sketch. I don’t really have any current cute Easter stamps, so I decided to go with pretty Spring flowers instead.

I started by stamping some of the floral images from the Pretty Perennials set and then cut them out with the coordinating Perennial Petals dies.

I added the little “Easter” sentiment from the A Wish for Everything stamp set. A strip of dsp from the Ice Cream Corner collection was added at the bottom of the card base.

Thank You Berry Much — FMS477

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our hostess is the butterfly-stamping queen and lover of square cards, Jen Mitchell. Of course, Jen makes beautiful cards with whatever stamp set and shape she uses, but I think she makes especially gorgeous cards with butterflies and square cards. Take a look at the fun sketch she has for us:

When I first saw this sketch, I knew I wanted to use some fun dsp for the background behind the focal square. This paper is from the Sale-a-Bration pack called Berry Delightful. I still had some in my stash, so I thought I’d use it with the Sweet Strawberry stamp set which is still available in the mini catalog.

I cut it into two triangles and placed it on a Basic White card base. I then cut out some of the strawberries and flowers with my paper snips from the pattern on the other side of the dsp and arranged them on a Stitched with Whimsy cut out. Some Misty Moonlight enamel dots were thrown in there as well.

The sentiment is from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and was also cut out with paper snips.

St. Patrick’s Day Care Package — FMS476

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is Linda Callahan, our fun friend from New York, who is one talented card maker. Take a look at this fun sketch:

My college girl is in the throes of midterm exams and with no spring break this year, it’s all a little much. I thought she could use a care package and since St. Patrick’s day is right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to use that theme. Besides, with a name like O’Neill, I think we’re required to celebrate this day!

I started with a card. Since I don’t have any St. Patrick’s Day stamps, I had to get creative and since the care package is mostly filled with treats, I thought some mint chocolate chip ice cream would fit in with the green theme.

I used the cute Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and coordinating punch for the fun ice cream and the Word Wishes dies for the sentiment. Some linen thread was used for the diagonal stripes in the sketch. And some Ice Cream Corner dsp was adhered to the card base.

I used some of the remaining dsp to decorate the box. I printed out some shamrocks on some Garden Green card stock and used some old letter dies to cut out the “Love You.” I included some candies and a t-shirt with the O’Neill coat of arms, which I found on Etsy. Hopefully this will be a fun thing for her to open and she’ll know we’re thinking of her.

Art Gallery Thoughts — Monday Montage #185

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop! We are a group of stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

The grass is starting to green up and the daffodils and tulips are starting to bloom here. Spring is on the way! I’m ready to make cards with bright, pretty colors and lots of flowers. That was my starting point with this card. It’s also the theme at the Paper Players this week:

I love the gorgeous, layered flowers in the Art Gallery stamp set. And the papers are so pretty with beautiful colors. My daughter’s favorite color is yellow, so I knew I wanted to use one of the pretty sheets of dsp in that color for my starting point.

The coordinating dies for the Art Gallery stamp set also include this fabulous sentiment. I die-cut it and the stamped sentiment with the Floral Gallery dies. This card came together really quickly!

Popsicle Birthday — FMS475

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the ever lovely and talented Jacquie Southas. Take a look at this great sketch:

I needed to make a birthday card for a sweet friend and when I saw this sketch I immediately thought of the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set, figuring that ice cream treats could make up the three rectangular focal points. And since this friend loves color like I do, I knew this would be a good set for her birthday card.

I started by brushing some Pool Party ink on a piece of watercolor paper. Once that dried, I used one of the Stitched with Whimsy Dies to add the fun stitching around the edges.

The popsicles were stamped using my stamp positioning tool so I could make them exactly the same size, as these popsicles are made using three stamps — the top part, the bottom part, and the stick. I then cut them and the sentiment out with my paper snips.
