Guac Birthday — FMS591

We’re back with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our Canadian bear-loving, mountain hiking, and card making friend, Jen Brum. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I will be in need of some masculine birthday cards next month, so I decided to get a head start on one. Punny cards are often good for the guys, so I pulled out the cute Taco Fiesta stamp set, which has a birthday sentiment.

I started with a card base of Parakeet Party card stock and then cut out the pieces of patterned paper from the Zoo Crew dsp pack.

I stamped the cute images and sentiment from the Taco Fiesta stamp set and colored them with some alcohol markers and added some sequins for embellishment. Once I figured out how to cut out the paper, this was a quick and easy card!

Bird’s Eye Birthday — FMS590

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our sketch comes from the Rocky Mountain state of Kim Singdahlsen, our fabulous hostess this week. Take a look at her fun sketch:

Kim always makes such thoughtful cards, putting little touches into each creation just for the recipient. I needed to make a birthday card for my mom, so I channeled a little of Kim’s magic to create a card with a book theme as my mom loves to read. I used books for the three strips in the sketch and this adorable bird from the Bird’s Eye View stamp set, which is one of my faves in the new annual catalog.

I colored the images with my alcohol markers and then cut them out with my paper snips. The sentiment is from an old Paper Pumpkin stamp set.

A Loved Verse — FMS589

There’s a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the delightful Linda Callahan. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I recently acquired the new Courage & Faith stamp set and knew it could work with the sketch (if you just squint at it rather quickly). 🙂 This stamp set contains one of my favorite Bible verses, Proverbs 3:5. I have come to rely on this verse so many times, in good times and bad. The stamp only shares a part of the verse. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

I chose to use a color scheme of Boho Blue, Old Olive, and Petal Pink. I used some old baker’s twine I found in my stash, which is not Petal Pink but blends in ok.

Wonderful Hippo — FMS588

There’s a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches brought to us by the fabulous Jen Mitchell. Take a look at her fun sketch:

That diagonal panel threw me for a loop. So I kinda cheated and decided to to just use a layer of vellum on my card for it.

I used the Zoo Crew suite collection for this one. The hippo was cut out with my paper snips from the coordinating dsp. Another sheet of the Zoo Crew DSP was used for the base layer.

I used a frame from the Fabulous Frames Dies collection to cut out the sweet frame for this sweet hippo. Some little Petal Pink flowers were cut out with the coordinating Zany Zoo dies. The sentiment is from the Zany Zoo stamp set.

Grateful for Flora (and graduation, and trips…) — FMS587

It’s been a while since I’ve stamped or posted anything here. With my daughter’s college graduation in Michigan and a family trip to Europe, the past few weeks have been a blur. It was fun celebrating graduation with her and her boyfriend (I finally got to meet him in person, and we all love him and his family).

The week after her graduation, we flew to Spain and spent a couple of days in Madrid and Barcelona before getting on a ship to cruise around the Mediterranean. We made a stop in Spain (Palma de Mallorca), a stop in France (Marseilles), and three stops in Italy (Cinque Terre/Florence, Rome, and Naples/Amalfi Coast/Pompeii). It was definitely a trip of a lifetime for us, and spending it together as a family made it even better.

But now it’s back to the real world and fortunately it’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. Our hostess this week is my favorite pilot and stamper extraordinaire, Jennifer Timko. I wish she had been the pilot on our long flight! That would have been fun! Take a look at her fabulous sketch for the week:

I wanted to make a thank you card for my parents, who so very kindly came and stayed in our home while we were gone and took care of our two dogs. When I saw Jennifer’s sketch, I thought flowers would work for the three circles in the sketch.

The Two-Tone Flora set has a gorgeous coordinating set of dies, that includes this detailed background die. I stamped the flowers and leaves and cut them out with some of the other dies in the set.

The sentiment is from the Full of Love stamp set. I cut it out by hand, and placed it over some white baker’s twine.

She Did It! — FMS581

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our sketch comes all the way from France via our favorite die-cut card-maker professionnelle, Cecile Ribon. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I need a graduation card for our daughter who will finish up her college degree in just a little over two weeks. It has been a long, tough four years, with Covid making it extra difficult. However, she has loved her time in Michigan! I wanted to make her a card using her school colors of maize and blue to personalize her card a little.

I used the December 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit stamp set (the sentiment) and the Best Day stamp set (fireworks and confetti) to make her card.

Some Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon was added as an embellishment, as were some retired resin stars. I used Blueberry Bushel for the ink on this card. It will be returning as a new core color when the next annual catalog is released in May

Rainy Days — FMS580

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is Jen Mitchell, my favorite Bay Stater stamper. Take a look at her fun sketch:

When I saw this sketch, the little critters from the Playing in the Rain stamp set came to mind as I thought I could fit different images in the four panels of the sketch. And then I thought I could make a card for my daughter who loves rainy days.

These images are a combination of images cut from the Rain or Shine dsp collection and the February Paper Pumpkin kit. I arranged the images on a piece of the rainy dsp.

I stamped the sentiment and cut it out so that it would fit better on the panel for the sketch.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has made for your inspiration.

Easter Bunny Card and Treats — FMS579

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and our hostess this week is our sweet pilot friend, Jennifer Timko. Take a look at her fun sketch:

Easter is only a week away and Spring is in the air. The trees have leaves again and everything is greening up. What a wonderful time of year! I made a little Easter basket care package for my college daughter, and needed a card to include in it. I used the adorable Easter Bunny stamp set to make it.

I knew I wanted to use this sweet bunny stamp for the focal image as it would fit well with an oval die that works with the sketch. I stamped it, the butterfly, and the pretty floral wreath and colored them with alcohol markers before cutting them out with my paper snips. I then stamped some grass from the same set and colored it with a blender pen.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I placed all of this on a lattice shaped die-cut from the Organic Beauty dies set to add some interest to all of the white space.

I had some old gable boxes in my stash and put some jelly beans in one. I added some Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon and a little tag for decoration. The tag was made by using some of the other stamps in the Easter Bunny set. Some of the Sale-a-Bration, Dandy Designs dsp, was used to wrap around the box.

I filled up a couple of old glassine sacks with the rest of the jelly beans and decorated them in the same way.

Sweet Turtle — FMS577

We’re back with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our sketch comes from the Heartland compliments of Judy Rozema. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I needed a card to send in a care package for my college daughter. Spring Break is over and she is back in the thick of things in that final semester. It’s hard to believe we’ll have another one finished with college in just a few weeks! However, the checkbook won’t get much relief as our youngest will be off to college in the Fall. She still hasn’t decided where she’s going yet, and her choices range from schools that are 250 miles away to 1,500 miles away. It’s a tough decision, and I just pray she’ll pick the one that will make her happiest (and maybe the one that is the closest and the least expensive). 🙂

I hadn’t used the Playing in the Rain set yet, and the turtle in that set is adorable! I decided to use him in one of the focal circles and use the flowers stamp for the other two circles.

I colored the images with my alcohol markers and used some of the Rain or Shine dsp. The little sun is from February’s Paper Pumpkin kit, which coordinates with this stamp set and dsp as well. The sentiment is from the Happy Labels stamp set.

Lemon Squeeze — FMS576

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is my turn to be the hostess, which means I get to provide the sketch. I envisioned a loose collage along the diagonal when I drew it up. I used circles, but the images can really be any shape and in any quantity.

I hadn’t used the Sweet Citrus Bundle, and with the weather finally feeling like Spring here, I thought this was the perfect sketch with which to use it.

I love how this bundle incorporates an embossing folder to add texture to the stamped images! It is such a cool effect!

I placed the images on a piece of Country Gingham dsp. I think the gingham and the lemons look so fresh and pretty together.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! I am looking forward to visiting the gallery to see how everyone uses the sketch. Meanwhile, be sure to visit the Freshly Made Sketches gallery to see what the design team has made for your inspiration.
