Floral Delight Birthday — FMS668

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us all the way from Australia courtesy of Narelle Farrugia. Take a look at what she has for us:

I wanted to play with one of the new bundles available in the mini catalog. Thinking the blooms in the Floral Delight bundle would be good substitutes for the circles in the sketch, I went that route.

I went with a different color palette from the catalog’s, using Fresh Freesia, Bubble Bath, and Old Olive instead. My favorite thing about this bundle is the “wishing” die. I love that it has the background die that outlines it.

Mixed Media Florals — FMS668

Happy New Year, everyone! It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us via New Zealand and the multi-talented card maker, Karren Johnson. Take a look at what she has for us:

There is a new Memories & More Card Pack, Mixed Media Florals, out in the new mini-catalog and it has some gorgeous floral images. I love the bright, pretty colors and the fresh floral images. This pack coordinates with the new Mixed Florals stamp set, which is available online. These packs are perfect for a quick card, and that is the direction I took.

The strips on the side, the sentiment, and the floral images are all from the pack. The focal image and sentiment are actually stickers. I popped up the flowers with dimensionals.

Snowy Village — FMS666

We have the last sketch of 2024 up at Freshly Made Sketches, and it comes to us from our favorite Canadian, Jen Brum. While Jen is not afraid to hike mountains, she claims to be afraid of circles on sketches. After seeing her sketch, I think she’s just fearless and loves a challenge! Take a look:

It’s been a while since I’ve made a slimline card and it was fun to do something different. My card size is 8-1/2″ x 3-1/2″. Since I have been wanting to play with the Yuletide Village stamp set, I thought I could substitute the cute little buildings in the set for the circles in the sketch.

I started with a piece of Boho Blue card stock and stamped the Falling Snow background stamp with Versamark ink and then embossed it with white embossing powder. I have really loved using this background stamp this season!

I then stamped the trees and buildings, colored them with alcohol markers, cut them out, and placed them on a piece of white card stock along the bottom of the card. The sentiment is from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack.

It was fun to get to color and “build” a little Christmas village!

Take a Bow Mish-Mash — FMS665

Here we are hurtling toward Christmas and we only have two sketches left for the year at Freshly Made Sketches. Our favorite Coloradan, Kim Singdahlsen, has a great sketch for your last minute Christmas cards and or cards for any other occasion. Take a look:

I ended up creating a card with a mish-mash of products, starting with the Take a Bow dsp.

I cut different pieces of the dsp into strips. I had the white oval and holly cut out from other projects. They were paired with a sentiment from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match ephemera pack. Easy-peasy.

Wintery Thoughts of You — FMS664

This sketch left me scratching my head for a while until I decided to make the three vertical panels a background. I had some of the birds from the gorgeous Nests of Winter dsp cut-out from a previous project that I didn’t end up using, so I thought they’d work with this one.

This one came together quickly and easily (especially since I already had the birds cut out). I love the sentiment and the artwork with the birds.

Christmas Snow Globe — FMS663

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes courtesy of Jen Mitchell, our crafty Bay Stater. Take a look at what she has for us:

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to craft. We’ve had some tough family situations and then two weeks ago I experienced a herniated disc in my neck. That has been a whole new level of pain for me! I got a steroid injection on Friday and it has helped quite a bit. The doctor said it could take a week or two to get the maximum relief, so I’m trying to be patient. Since my crafting skills are a little rusty, I decided to take an easy approach with this card and let the dsp do the work for me.

The Snowy Scenes dsp came to the rescue. I cut out the cute snow globe with the coordinating Snowy Wonder dies. The dsp used on the card base and the strip across the center also came from Snowy Scenes. The sentiment came from the Reindeer Fun stamp set.

I think I missed a layer on the sketch. I’m just going to blame it on my foggy brain due to the pain meds I’m on.

Cocoa in the Snow — FMS660

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us courtesy of Judy Rozema, our favorite theater-loving, card-making talent in Nebraska. Take a look at what she has for us:

Not having much time for crafting lately, I needed to make something quickly so I grabbed the Christmas ephemera packs and went to work (it’s really play, who am I kidding?).

I pulled the cup of cocoa and the other pieces of ephemera from the Joyful Images Mix & Match Ephemera Pack and arranged them around the sentiment banner, which is from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack.

The card base was stamped with the Falling Snow background stamp and embossed with white embossing powder.

Reindeer Cheer — FMS659

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and it is my turn to play the role of hostess. I always love a clean collage, so I went that route when designing the sketch for the week. Here’s what I came up with:

Even though the sketch is a collage of circles, any shapes are good. I ended up with a loose interpretation of the sketch, but creativity is what makes these challenges fun, right?

I started with the adorable Reindeer Fun dies and cut out the layers for this cute reindeer and the wreath and its bow. This little guy is so easy to put together!

I cut the presents out of some of the Take a Bow dsp collection and added some twine bows. Some Real Red & White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints were added as embellishments. The sentiment is from the coordinating Reindeer Fun stamp set, and was embossed with red embossing powder.

Snowman Tag — FMS657

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it come to us via our ink-blending and coloring pro from New Zealand, Karren Johnson. Take a look at what she has for us:

I thought this tag would be perfect for some of the Joyful Images Mix & Match Specialty Ephemera. The hardest part of this card was deciding which image to use.

The snowman was the winner as I thought the slanted panels in the sketch could be viewed as a snowdrift. So I left the bottom panel white and cut a piece of dsp from the Nests of Winter dsp collection for the top half of the card base.

I added some White Loose Snowflakes and a sentiment from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. Some fun Pool Party Pompom Ribbon and some Real Red and White Baker’s Twine finish off the tag.

Nests of Winter — FMS656

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it comes to us courtesy of our favorite French paper crafter extraordinaire, Cecile Ribon. Take a look at what she has for us:

This sketch made me think of the gorgeous Nests of Winter suite collection, so I cut out some of the birds from a sheet of the coordinating dsp and arranged them on another piece of the dsp from the same collection.

I love the sweet birds in this dsp. I selected a sentiment from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack to finish the card.
