Halloween Happiness — FMS 102

Look at this fun sketch that the wildly talented Cindy Hall has for us at the Freshly Made Sketches site this week:

I decided to turn the sketch on its side and use a fun Halloween-themed stamp called Halloween Happiness.

One More Fall Card

I think I’ve seriously been hoping that by making Fall-themed cards that I could hurry Fall along here.  It’s not happening!  We are still in the throes of Summer.  But here’s one more for you today.  I wanted to play along with Sandy’s theme challenge at the Paper Players this week:

I decided to pull out the Magnificent Maple stamp.  I just love the detail and the size of this stamp.  I also pulled out my Tape It stamp set, which I just got recently.  I love how the stamps in this set look like washi tape, which you can make in any color you want.  The top and bottom strips are stamps, while the middle strip is dsp.

In other news here, I would like to introduce you to the newest member of our family, Maggie, who is a two-year old Pug.

MaggieWhile I was on my way to convention last month (I was in the car on the way to the airport, mind you), I got a text from my husband saying that he had found a dog to adopt.  Now we had talked about getting a dog (it has been two years since our previous beloved dog passed away) off and on over the past month, but I thought we were agreed that we’d revisit the topic after I got back home.  However, when I got home I had an extra family member to welcome me back.

Maggie is very sweet and is definitely my youngest child’s dog.  She waits outside her bedroom door for my youngest to get up each morning.  This week, Maggie has looked like this a lot:

maggieMy kids went back to school on Monday, and Maggie and I have been a little depressed.  She sticks very near to me, and sleeps by my feet while I stamp.  It is nice to have company while the kids are at school.

A Bicycle Hello — PP160

It has been far too long since I’ve been able to play with my friends at the Paper Players challenge site, so I made it a priority to play this week.

I love this dsp from the Birthday Basics dsp collection, but I never know quite how to use it.  This sketch seemed to lend itself to a bigger dsp pattern, so I grabbed it.

A Bicycle HelloI also used some of the silver glimmer paper for the chevrons and used a sponge dauber to add some Basic Gray ink.

Enjoy your Thursday!  Go check out the Paper Players’ design team’s projects and play along.  Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  Four You

Creepy Crawly — FMS101

This week we have a fun sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches from the supremely talented Linda Callahan.  She is not only talented at paper crafting, but I so enjoy her sense of humor.

When I saw the long panel on this sketch, I knew I wanted to use this fun Halloween stamp from the Halloween Bash stamp set.  I colored it with my markers.  I swear I use my markers to ink stamps just as much as I do my ink pads.  I love my markers!

creepy crawlyDid you notice the tiny black scallops along the long panel?  I made them with the new Small Scallop Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blade (say that five times really fast :)).  It is so easy to use, and I love the effect — it’s very subtle and adds just a little extra something-something.

I hope you can make the time to join us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  The design team has some great inspiration for you at the website here.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Eastern Elegance Dahlia

I’m not quite ready to fully move on to Fall and Christmas themed projects yet.  It could be because the temps are still around 100 degrees here, or it could be that I just haven’t had enough of Summer’s fun colors.  So I’ll probably be dabbling with a little bit of both for a while.

Merry in Gold — Monday Montage #1

mondaymontageheader

Welcome to our first Monday Montage!  We had so much fun doing the Artisan Finalist Blog Hop that we decided we should get together a couple times a month and do more blog hops.  So the ten of us who were finalists for Stampin’ Up’s Artisan Award, but not chosen for the design team, will be showing you various projects together.

One of the products in the Holiday catalog that I couldn’t wait to try was the Expressions Thinlits Dies.  So I used them to make this Christmas card:

Merry BannersI also used the new Gold Foil Sheets to cut out the “Merry”.  Isn’t that stuff beautiful!

I hope you’ll continue on the blog hop and go check out Breelin Renwick’s  beautiful creation.  You can also work your way backwards by starting with the talented Wendy Weixler’s blog.  Either way, just make sure you work your way fully around the blog hop circle.
