A Tag It Celebration — FMS95

It’s a big day today!  I’m leaving for Stampin’ Up’s annual convention in Salt Lake City, and the super talented Narelle Farrugia has a great sketch for us at Freshly Made Sketches:

Narelle is the queen of perfect layers, and she has an absolutely gorgeous card that she made with this sketch.   I tried to channel my inner layering on this card in honor of Narelle.  I used the Tag It samp set, which is this year’s Ronald McDonald House stamp set.  Stampin’ Up donates $3 to the charity for every stamp set it sells.  The Tag It set also coordinates with the Chalk Talk framelits dies.  Pretty cool, huh?

A Masculine Wetlands Card

There’s a color challenge at the Paper Players this week, and I thought these colors would be great for a masculine card, of which I am always in need.

wetlands goose

My default for masculine cards is extra clean and simple.  When I saw this Wetlands stamp set in the catalog, I was so drawn to it.  It’s not really my normal style, but I really like it.  Plus, it has three great sentiments.

An Elephant Baby — FabFri22

There is a great color challenge for you at Fab Friday today.

I must say that I have neglected Tempting Turquoise for a while now.  Stampin’ Up has come out with some beautiful blues — Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Island Indigo and Bermuda Bay; and I have been using them so much that I actually kinda forget about Tempting Turquoise.  And it’s such a pretty color!  So I was glad that this challenge came along.

Elephant Baby

I used a stamp set that I just received, Zoo Babies.  The images in this set are so cute!  My kids are really too old for this set and I very rarely need a baby card, but I couldn’t resist this sweet set.  It will be fun to play with it.

I hope you’ll be able to join in this color challenge at Fab Friday!  I always enjoy seeing what you make.

Christmas in July — A Sneak Peek

One of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is that we not only get to see the new products in upcoming catalogs early, but we also get to order them early and play with them early.

So when I saw that the Paper Players had this challenge this week, I knew exactly what I wanted to make.

One of the sets at the top of my list in the upcoming Holidays catalog is the A Banner Christmas set.  It has such fun images.  I used two of them on my card.

The card size is 6-1/2″ X 3-1/4″.  It fits in the Open End envelopes that Stampin’ Up! used to sell.

Enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Pansies on an Slant — FMS94

Take a look at this fun Freshly Made Sketches challenge from the super talented Linda Suarez:

I love this sketch!  It is very versatile and trendy.  I decided to embrace the white space with my card, but I decided it needed texture so I used the chevron embossing folder.

I’m not Afraid of Orange

Do you have any colors that strike fear in your crafting heart?  I’ve heard many people say that color is orange for them.  I have no problem with orange.  In fact, I really like it.  It’s the favorite color of my two girls.  They’ve even asked me if they could paint their rooms orange.  I haven’t quite allowed that yet, but I don’t mind orange pillows or other accents.

hello lovely chevrons

I used some fun, new products on this card — the Positively Chevron background stamp, which I embossed with white embossing powder, and the Island Indigo 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon.  I also used some more of those sequins from my stash.

I do have a color that strikes fear into my heart, and that color is purple.  I think purple is a perfectly pretty color, but I rarely use it as I never know with what to pair it.  That’s why you don’t see many purple cards from me.

Enjoy your Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  Hello, Lovely, Positively Chevron
Ink:  Island Indigo, Versamark
Paper:  Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, Whisper White
Embellishments:  Island Indigo 3/4″ Chevron ribbon, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Pearl Basic Jewels, sequins (non-SU)

Afternoon Picnic Smile

I love the sketch over at Retro Sketches this week, so I knew I wanted to play along.  I just got some of the Afternoon picnic dsp and I love the colors and patterns in it.  It is basically the same as the Tea for Two dsp that was in the Spring catalog — just with different colors, which I love.
